Daisy Cottage has a little stairway in the center of the house. I just found this old, shabby light fixture at a neighbor's estate sale and sweet hubby installed it right away. He's VERY good about doing that - you know, not making me wait too long for things to get done on the "honey-do" list...
I've filled the stairway walls with mirrors strictly found at Goodwill.....
I moved the little white table that I got at the garage sale to the stairway landing..
And placed Fifi's dried flowers here....
I hope you enjoyed seeing these reflections of our stairway! :-)
I love your mirror collection. I've thought about doing that, but always had the notion that they needed to be similar - all wood framed, all frameless, etc. I like how yours are all so different and look so good together. I'm going to have to starting keeping my eyes out for fun mirrors....

SPECTACULAR!!!!! Truly!

It's so lovely. We have a stairway landing that has baffled me for years because I don't want it clashing with what's going on in the entry way. Yours looks great.

I would love to do that in my stairway. Curious as to if you got the placement of the mirrors right the first time......just adding as you got them.....or are you mortal like the rest of us and needed to tweak the arrangement? Please pass on your secrets......we all want to be like Kim :-)
Posted by: Rosie | October 30, 2007 at 11:13 AM
Thank you Rosie!
I hang them as I get them.. and haven't moved one around yet. They go up the right side of the wall on the bottom part of the stairway, then they go up the left side of the wall on the second half of the stairway.

Kim, I love the sage paint color. Do you happen to remember the color name and brand? It's so warm and cozy.
That light from the estate sale is just beautiful. Very vintagy.

Goodness, you're amazing! That stair wall is absolutely gorgeous--and I love the table at the top with the urn of flowers and the shells. I'm jealous! My old house had a stairway, but my new one doesn't. It's better for living, but not as charming. Great photos! ~A :-)

I love your mirror wall. I have one in my long, narrow entry and painted all the frames white. Right now, I have a white wall there, too, and want to paint the wall to make the mirrors show up better. Cindy over at MY ROMANTIC HOME has a beautiful collection of mirrors, as well. Thanks for sharing yours with us. I hope you will come over and see me sometime.

Kim,
The thing about Daisy Cottage is that your home is beautiful but it's more than the beauty Daisy cottage gives off a feeling of complete peacefulness and I and all your readers feel like we could come for a visit and drink iced tea with you on your porch and feel completely at home.
It's not just the home that makes us feel that way, it's also your complete hospitality.
Thanks for always being you and being so creative. :) Bren

Just to say thanks for coming to see me today. I love that you like my kitchen. Our doors on the cabinets were just plain, solid plywood. I really hated to spend the money for new doors so, after pouring over magazines for months, I asked hubby if he could use his router and make them look a little like beadboard. I couldn't believe how much it changed the whole kitchen...added a little depth as well. Our house is a 1950's ranch..too old to be pretty and not old enuf to be interesting.
But....it's home.

Thanks for another peek inside your little cottage. I love that you share your ideas and your love of treasure hunting with us all. You are a true inspiration to those of us who were innoculated with the "junque" bug at a very early age.
Your stairway reflection reflection is beautiful. . . and how very female of you to have all of those beautiful, little mirrors with NOT ONE single full length mirror among them that might reflect the side effects of our second passion - that of baking and sampling goodies.
God Bless!

Hi Kim. I do love your little stairway! I am just beginning a mirror collection so it was inspiring to see them all hanging there so beautifully together! I'm not waiting until I have my whole collection to hang them, I just hung the ones I have so far at random, so they are still in their "awkward" stage! Yours is definitely lovely!
