Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

OHHHHH Yes, I want to invite you over.....I love cake, I would TRY to steal the cake carrier, I really, really want to meet you, and my house would love your talented touch!!!! How soon did you say you were coming?????? :^)

Come on over!

I am sure everyone would love for you come visit and bring a choc chip cake in your new cake carrier. So pretty! I love your style Kim!

I know the joy you must have had when you found that - because I have one that's identical, but pink instead of red - flowers and all are the same!! I won it on Ebay about 6 months ago and I have still not stopped smiling when I see it.

Gee Kim, that carrier looks like it's in fabulous condition. (The colors and flowers remind me a lot of the red tole tray you gave away in September for your one year anniversary.) Great find! And of course I'd be thrilled beyond words to have you come over...with or without cake! Anytime you want to take a little day trip, just let me know. I'm really easy to find. :)

Kim, you are definitely welcome at my home ANYTIME, whether you bring cake or not! I think I would ask you to bring Maggie! LOL
I do love your cake carrier - I have always wanted one!

Oh, that is so cute! I want one, too! I have a red, white and black kitchen like you! Thanks for sharing your fun treasures~!

That is a real find! The invitation is always open.....cake or no cake :-)

Susan Ramey Cleveland

The cake carrier is beautiful. Just right for Daisy Cottage. And guess what? I have a little chick pitcher just like that one.

Oh yes, come on over. Can't wait to see you!

Angela (Cottage Magpie)

Cake? Yes, please! I'm only several hundred (thousand) miles away... Cute! ~A :-)

Oh how cute and red too. A great find Kim. I have been looking for a nice one for years. I have a great pie carrier but I guess I'll just have to keep looking for the cake carrier. Lucky you.

Hi Kim,

You always find the cutest things! I get so inspired visiting Daisy Cottage :) That carrier is so very you.

Oh, I'm swooning over that cake carrier! What a sweet find!

Too cute! Bust out the cake ingredients and your apron, 'cause the baby is just begging to be put to use.

Carrie J

I almost fell off my chair when I saw the picture. I love it! Love the chicky too!

Sweet Cottage Dreams

How cute!!! What a great conversation piece this would be if you carried your goodies in it. Too cute! I have a green one with little daisies on it and love it! Cute little chick-a-dee! xo, Becky

Please come to my house!!! I know you're a good baker! I used to have a little cow pitcher but I'm not sure where that went to. It was Craig's Grandmothers. I think he made it disappear! He grew up on a large Dairy Farm in Southcentral PA but really doesn't find it all that charming...he's in technology now!!
So, are you coming? :))

oh, i love it kim! and yes, if you are ever in Maine, we like chocolate cake....with lots of frosting! LOL

Yes! Please come over!!! I'll put the coffee on...

I WANT THAT! Can you see my tonsils in the back of my throat? ; - )

Love it. Coffee or tea?

That's the prettiest vintage cake carrier I've ever seen! Pretty tole design, too!=)

LOVE the red cake holder! Perfect for you-

Barbara @ Southern Lady's Vintage

Come on over Kim... The back door is open!

That is so perfect for Daisy Cottage. I have a vintage cake carrier but it's not as cute as that one. Great find! Now what kind of cake will you bake?

Amanda (aka Cottage Contessa)

Lots of ooooo-ing & aahhhhhh-ing going on here! Can you hear me sqealing with delight? It's fabulous! I'm always trotting off to visit someone with cake in tow, and I'm always looking for a nicer prettier way to transport my goodies too. That's it, I'm officially jealous now sweetie. lol

Alison Gibbs

What a great cake carrier. What a cute little chickie!

Hi! I LOVE your cake carrier! I'd welcome you to Michigan, and you would really love our crisp fall weather and a trip to the local orchard for fresh cider and a crispy sweet apple!

Also, you would be the cutest arriving at a dinner on the grounds at the church with that lovely container! I love potlucks, and if I were YOU, I would find one to go to! I know that cake would be a hit and all you would take home with you would be crumbs!

I have to ask again, Kim about where you get your little doggie coats for Maggie? I lost the info you had emailed me over the winter and, since here in Michigan it's freezing weather again, I need to get my little boy mini-dox in a coat made just to fit HIM!!

Thanks again for your LOVELY blog, which I try to catch up with almost every single day!

Very sweet and so cute too. I love the little chick creamer. Did you find it recently? If so, where? I LOVE it.

You have an open invitation to my home...anytime...with or without cake.

Miss Daisy would love to meet Maggie too.

Coming over for cake and taking back that cute chicken jug when your back is turned and I shall pop it into my handbag! Hee Hee.

You're welcome anytime...and I love chocolate cake!!!

Love the vintage carrier...I would say it's pretty much screaming your name. Very nice and the red color is perfect.

It's very pretty!!!!

C. Stower

What a cute cake taker! I had to go check out your cake recipe, I copied it off so I can make it sometime for my dear husbands "sweet tooth". I have tried many of your recipes and they have all turned out so well. Hugs, Cindy

melissa @ the inspired room

Come on over anytime! I would eat cake from dingy tupperware OR a vintage cake carrier, but the vintage one would be so much more charming!

Oh, those are handy! And yours is so sweet! Glad you finally got one

Penny @ Lavender Hill Studio

Kim, that is just perfect! Come visit me, my favorite cake is dark moist chocolate, with rich chocolate frosting!

Elaine L.

I want it!

It's just lovely. It's such a thrill when you find something you've longed for in years. I can understand you're happy. Hope you have a great weekend.
Love Elzie

Oh, Kim, that's such a wonderful color and design! Perfect for Daisy Cottage. The little chick pitcher is adorable, too! You have a standing invitation to Little Red House -- don't forget the cake! :)

Love it Kim! Yep, I'll put the coffee on..and ugh - I like ANY kind of cake - HA!

Carrie@Oak Rise Cottage

Yes, you are welcome to join the get-together. That cake carrier is superb. Also, the ceramic chick made me burst into laughter. It is so sweet! [Ah, bring it too, the others will enjoy seeing such a bright little object]

Awww, Kim! That's the cutest cake holder & perfect for your kitchen. You pics are always SO colorful and charming. Just SO Daisy Cottage.

P.S. I would love to share my Mama with you! If only we could do that.

Big hugs,

Junie Moon

The cake carrier is gorgeous and ever so better than the Tupperware container that does indeed look pretty sad after awhile. I'm going off to find a pretty cake carrier like yours--thanks for sharing your pictures and the idea.

Devilish Southern Belle

That's so awesome! While out thrifting, I found a metal cake carrier, top only...I never picked it up because I don't have a bottom anywhere. Yours is pretty, though, this one was just plain stainless. Still had a very vintage-y look, though!

The Decorated House

Kim! That is the cutest thing. I've never seen one like it before. Are you trying to make me go back to "those thrift stores" and keep looking!? :)

I think, other than your own sis, I live the closest! I love chocolate please. What time?
Hugs, Donna

Betty @ She's Sew Pretty

Oh that's cute and it would look great in my kitchen. I'll trade you a cake for it! LOL

Cece Marie

Soo cute! I love it! I want one too!
I'm excited to try your yummy chocolate bundt cake recipe! Will any chocolate cake mix do the trick? Does anyone have any favorites? I usually just stick with Betty Crocker but only becaus I love the name Betty. ;) Cece

I've never seen a cake carrier like that one! You are's so much cuter than Tupperware. And I love the little chickie, too!

So adorable. I'll invite you here in Missouri and yes, please bring a pumpkin cake for all of us to share!

I'm a sucker for those old carriers, whenever I see one I have to pick it up & have sold so many over the years...what they used back then just makes our tupperware look like garbage:)How you doin chica? xo

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
