I've been so worried about my friend, Kathryn Bechen, who lives in San Diego, California. Thankfully, I heard from her a little while ago. She said that the devastation from the wildfires has just been horrible. For now, she and her hubby, along with their precious kitties are safe and sound. I know that you all join me in wishing all of our brothers and sisters in California, safe returns to their beloved families and homes. Our thoughts are with you ........
Our hearts go out to you....please be safe and comforted soon.
Amen to that !!!
Kathy :)

I have been following Willow on her blog and she posted photos of the smoke...they are not even close enough to be in danger but are affected by it. I will join you in offering up prayers of safety for everyone. These things dwarf all the other little worries of the day!

Amen Kim. I will be praying for their safety and much needed rain to quench these devastating fires. My heart just aches for them all.
Kim I am thankful your friend is safe.

Very beautifully said.

How sweet of you, Kim. I'm 30 miles away from 3 of the fires and lucky that the winds are blowing away from my town, so we aren't getting smoke.
This is an unbelievable tragedy. Currently one million people have evacuated their homes.
God Bless the Firefighters!

Great post. I too, am concerned about the people in southern California. I was thinking today that when I lived in southern California we did'nt face any fires. How terrible it must be.
Thanks, Kim for expressing what many of us feel at this time.

Coming from Australia I really understand and I would imagine some of our firefighters will be called upon to help you all soon ,like we have before. It is all over our news.
Stay Safe everyone in CA

I'm so glad your friend and her family are safe. My friend Kathryn who lives in CA and owns one of the stores where I sell, was evacuated but is now home again. Her home, and her mother's home were spared thank God. The devastation of those fires is so very sad and truly breaks my heart. We are getting some rain finally, so perhaps we won't have fire here in our mountains. I wish I could bottle the rain and send some of it to CA. Your photos in this post are gorgeous, as always. xoxo

Hi Kim, I'm catching up with all your recent posts and what some lovely things I have missed!
We have heard of the fires and can only imagine the horror of them.

Hi Kim,
What a lovely post. I spoke with Heather Bullard yesterday from the Present Past Collection and she and her family are ok, but it's scary. Her home backs up to an open canyon. I am worried about all of our CA blogger girls and wish them safety during this nightmare.~ xo

The California fires have been uppermost in my mind, Kim. It's good to know you've heard from your friend!
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of southern CA.

So glad your friend and her family are safe. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone there. To lose a home is so much more than just losing a roof over your head. We blog every day about making our houses a home filled with comfort and memories -- I cannot imagine losing all that!

Hi Kim,
That is so sweet of you. We're safe where we are (about 25 miles from Malibu) but my heart goes out to our neighbors in the surrounding cities. The smoke in the air is unbelievable. At this point the fires here are looking like they are calming. San Diego is getting the worst of it now.
Hugs,
Dena

I am thousands of miles away from California, but my prayers are with all of you out there.
Thanks for the beautiful blog...you do a wonderful job and I stop by often. And if I am not mistaken, I believe that's an Archway lemon cookie in the one photo. My favorite cookie ever.

My daughter lives just outside Orange County, so I've been in constant contact with her. It's just so sad to see all the devastation! I wish and hope that all will be safe!

Beautiful...thank you for doing this. It is tragic to hear that so much of our state is on fire and to know that so many families have lost their homes. So heartbreaking. I am glad that our Gov. Arnold is so supportive!! xo, Becky

It's so like you to be thinking about others, Kim; you have such a caring nature. My office is just a few miles from one of the fires; since Monday, our office has had smoke inside that we've been breathing and smelling, eyes red and irritated, coughing. It's nasty. Co-workers have been evacuated. I've had a headache since Monday. My car looked like there had been a light snowfall when I left yesterday, dusted entirely with ash and soot. As I left home this morning, flakes of ash as big as my fingernail were falling from the sky.
Our firefighters and other service personnel (officers going home to home to evacuate people) are true heroes. So many homes lost, so many tears, so much sorrow. I've posted a bit about it on my blog, too. (http://roseeliff.blogspost.com - The Center of My Self)

Thanks so much for your prayers....it's so devastating. I have been calling and checking on friends all week...but found out last night that my brother was finally able to get through to his house and nothing is left my ashes. No one died..thankfually but I so hope he was able to get our family pictures out. My Mom lives with him and has all of the family photos of when we were growing up and several scrapbooks I have given her over the years as gifts...if they all burned I feel as if my history would be erased but thankfully they are safe. thanks again for your thoughts.

We have so many friends in San Diego from our Navy days and some in LA as well. Several were evacuated in SD. One came so close to losing everything. I will remember the fires the Summer we lived in SD. This year's are just horrible.
Many hugs to you dear Kim. I do hope your friend and her family are well.
Love,
Sue
