Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

I love mixing china/dishes/glassware and silverware. It is much more fun, unique and down right pretty isn't it? I always adore the tableware you choose...these white and yellow items are just right and the tea cup? Precious!

Barbara @ Southern Lady's Vintage

I agree Kim! It is hard for me to pass up vintage china and glassware. Somehow it just works. I can't even pass by the ones that have little nicks in them. I figure I can use them to hold a candle or rings or something.

Nice finds. Love the buttery yellows.

I have just found this wonderful world of bloggers a few days ago (thru the old painted cottage,LOVE HER!] So far you are the BEST! I can't seem to leave your site. You have such a lovely home. Thanks for sharing with those of us who can't get enough. I don't have my own site, but am thinking I could give up sleeping to create one, it's so much fun lol! Again, thanks.

Esther Sunday

Hoping you get rested soon! You never cease to amaze me how you can make your purchases work so wonderfully together! Love, Esther

I am always so inspired by you and your wonderful treasures! I think I may need to pop into a few places tomorrow...perhaps a treasure will find me as well.

Thanks for the lovelies!

Oh, you're so much fun, KIM! Love the fun mix and match effect! I'm the same!

Love your blog! :)

Amanda (aka Cottage Contessa)

Great finds Kim. The apron is adorable! I too had a great deal of luck out thrifting today. Oh the simple pleasures........

So many lovely things. I really loved the curtain (?). Looked so fresh and nice.
Have a great weekend.

I'm a big fan of vintage aprons. Yours is lovely. I had'nt considered mixing and matching. I like the idea!

I love Goodwill also!!! And I love to have one of a kind items!!! That is what really makes a house a home... your own personal flair!!!!
You and Ms Daisy have a wonderful weekend!!!!
Maybe our heatwave will finally end.......

Love your dish finds, and your apron is so pretty too! What would we do without Goodwill and thrift shops!
:) Donna

the feathered nest

You really have the best Goodwill! Love all those dishes and the apron is darling.

I love your apron! Nothing makes me feel more feminine than an apron - thank you for sharing yours!

Susan Ramey Cleveland

Love the yellow plate and the white and green one. I'm tired too, Kim. But the doctors tell me I have some mysterious condition called fibromyalgia, so I guess that's the culprit here. It's s drag. Hope you feel better soon.

Dear Kim, thanks for admitting that you get TIRED! You have such a full life with ideas spinning around your head all the time, it's no wonder you need some R & R! I find that the change of seasons beings on tiredness, too. Hurahh for Goodwill, though! For just a few bucks you can pick up delightful bargains that bring a smile to your face. Happy hunting!! Have a great weekend.

What great Goodwill finds!

Great stuff! I love looking at all the dishes at Goodwill, too.
God bless :)

I love the new dishes and the apron is fabulous! Perfect for Daisy Cottage!

Hi Kim,

What fabulous finds indeed! I just love going to the Goodwill and now that I have seen your goodies, I will definately have to make a trip today to see what I can find :)

Hope you have a wonderful Friday!

Junie Moon

That apron is so pretty. I love the sweet style and color of it. Your finds are fabulous.

Ohhhhhhh that really is a sweet apron...I just love it....So white and crisp looking! Your new plates were quite a find too! You find the best stuff I swear :o)

Love the apron! Do you wear yours? I don't wear mine, but I would like to!

The apron is so sweet... I love mixing and matching patterns, shades of color in china too. Get some rest!
Love all your banners, but this one may be my favorite..

The Decorated House

Good Morning Kim!
More delightful finds! Doesn't the white seem so soothing in our heat while we dream of fall? That apron is just special.
Those dishes would go fabulously with all of mine. :)

Tired? I need a nap right now after not being able to sleep until one and then waking up at 6! I don't like this part of life changing.

So good to come by and see you today. Have a most wonderful weekend.

Lee Ann

I love the apron. I wish our Goodwill had such nice finds. I live in Georgia and know how you feel about the heat. Maybe rest this weekend I'm sure going to try. Lovely blog!

I love your blog! What a beautiful home you have, I have a love for all things vintage and love seeing how you put them together! I will be back!

Your right it is the heat. It has been hot and humid here..very unusual this time of year. I was dragging. Today it's cool sunny and not one bit humid! I've been running around with all kinds of energy. I lived in Fl for a few years and never got used to the heat. I'm always amazed older people can handle it..I whine nonstop. Well your finds are beautiful! What a pretty place setting. The green with the yellow is so calming.

Betty @ She's Sew Pretty

That apron is beautiful. There is something about white that just says clean and fresh.

Devilish Southern Belle

When collecting dishes, I am trying to get one place setting of each pattern I like. Do you do this, or just mix and match everything? I don't like everything matchy-matchy, but I don't seem to be able to pull off mismatched within place settings. Everyone else does it so much better!

Elaine L.

I love the mix'n match approach.
It makes life so much more interesting and fun!

I am so tired, too! You and I will see fall arrive here soon! U;n counting on it. Everyone will want to be where we are when their harsh winters come ;-) Right now I'm enjoying relaxing by reading your blog.

I don't see a single item from your thrifting that I wouldn't have put in my basket. Great finds and I love the colors. I wish my Goodwill store priced as low as yours does!

I can just see you wearing your darling apron while you bake up some of your banana bread, but don't get any batter on it. It's too pretty!

Don't you just love the fun things at the Goodwill??!!! Hope you are resting up!

Hi Kim, Thank you for leaving me a get well wish on my blog...I'm feeling a lot better!

The apron is so pretty and the tea cup is so sweet!

I love your style so much!! Thanks for sharing and taking great pictures : )

Dear Kim,
I LOVE getting finds at thrift shops!! Yours are terrific! Hugs~Rosemary~

I was delighted to see your "vintage" yellow plate! When I got married 27 years ago, that set of dishes was what we chose for our everyday dishes. I ordered them from the Sears catalog. I only have a few pieces left, but I still love the color and the simplicity. Enjoy!

Very pretty market finds. And your little doggie is so sweet.

Hi, what a pretty linen apron..gorgeous!

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
