Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

LuCKy CHARMS! But only the marshmellows! xoxo

Teresa

Currently, I'm loving Raisin Bran and Strawberry Shredded Wheat. Great snack too.

Teresa

LOL, I am just sitting down to eat my cereal as I read this...this morning Honey Grahams, but Honey Nut Cheerios are on the top of my list too!

Teresa

linda t

Loving my regular Cheerios with sliced bananas!
But I tried that new Curves whole grain cereal last week and it's real good! Hey I could eat cereal any time of day!

Lori

Oh My! I have so many...it's really hard to choose...? I'm a bread-a-holic, so cereal is one of my favorite things to eat...but I guess if I had to choose just one, it would probably be Raisin Nut Bran with its toasted almond slivers, lightly sweeted flakes & delectible nut covered raisins...YUMMY!!! Mmmmm...wish I could have a bowl right now!
:)

Teri n CO

Ah... my favorite too! I enjoyed a bowl of them just this morning!

Teri

Miss Janice

I love honey nut cheerios also. I have also started eating the "Curves" cereal lately.
Miss Janice

Kathy

Hmmmmm....regular Cheerios with a pinch of sugar.....orange wedges and a glass of Welch's grape juice. And of course a cup of Starbucks (whole bean) French roast. Now that does a body good !!!

Have a wonderful Monday Kim.....
Kathy :)

ps What did you end up doing for knobs in the Kitchen???

Becky

I am a Cheerio's girl, too. Our new grocery store had them on special for .99 a box and I bought 5. I have been eating Cherrios and sliced bananas each morning for the past few weeks. Yum! Love hot oatmeal with brown sugar, a tiny bit of butter and milk. Fun post, Kim!!

Becky

Hi Kim,
I like lots of cereal but I'd have to say Total. Was it coffee in your mug? Just curious, since you didn't mention.
Have a nice rest of the day!
Fay Marie

Terri

Personal fave is Lucky Charms but at 48, choose a more sensible Cheerios with bananas every day!

Elizabeth

Good Morning!! Hmmm...I can't stick to one cereal ALL the time, so I have to alternate. My favorites are Raisin Bran, Frosted Mini-Wheats and oatmeal with brown sugar and milk. AND a nice, hot cup of strong coffee. WAKE-UP!!

Fun post!

Pat

I do love my cheerios with a banana too. Another favorite is raisin bran.

Love that photo, Kim!

Pat

Anina

I like mixing Bran flakes and granola (just pour a bag of each in the cereal container and shake lightly to mix) and having this with milk and banana. Yum! And full of fiber.

Donna

I'm bad, I like the cereal that is not so good for you. Cinnamon Toast Crunch for me!

AndreaW123

Apple Jacks, but of course!

Dena

I'm looking at the six boxes of assorted cereals on the top of my fridge...and looking back at the pumpkin scone on my desk. Well, I guess I do eat cereal; I just do it at night, dry and by the handfuls watching tv. What kind? Uhm...Kaptain Krunch peanut butter :)

mom2fur

Cocoa Puffs or Cap'N Crunch or Golden Crisp or Froot Loops...
...yeah, my breakfast tastes are pretty juvenile!
Well, I really like Raisin Bran, too.

Pattie

Cheerio's and Kix's are my fav but right now I am trying to eat Kashi "go lean" cereal.

Sharron

Do warm cereals count??
Oatmeal & Cream of Wheat!!

dana

What a cute question...Let me see, I usually eat bran flakes with a handful of craisins and a few chopped walnuts. But my absolute favorite is Honey Bunches of Oats.I don't even buy it very often because it's just to dangerous for me to have around.

KLKinFLA

My very favorite is Banana Nut Crunch, but I eat Kashi's Go Lean crunch, which is also pretty good. Happy Monday!

Donna

Honey nut cheerios are my favorite too! In fact I had them this morning with a sliced nectarine. Sometimes I'll even have a bowl of them before I go to bed. They're good anytime, don't you think so?

Linna

My two favorites are Cheerios and Weetabix.Linna

Debbie L.

Morning Kim:), well lets see I have three favorites: Raisin Bran, Honey Nut Cherrios, and plain Cherrios that I sometimes add dried cranberries and chopped walnuts or sliced bananas. Yumm!

Matter of fact Im getting ready to head to the grocery store for cereal and bananas. Now Im craving Honey Nut Cherrios. I eat it for a snack too!

jules

I love porridge but it always seems such an effort to make it, we can get cheerios here in france and we all like them so yum yum

jules xx

Lee Ann

Apple Nut Cheerios are sweet and feel me with good thoughts when my three children were young. I'm new to your blog. I love home ideas and enjoy feeling my small home with new ideas!!

Lynda ~ Hedgerow Hollow

I like regular Cheerios during the warmer months and Shredded Wheat in the winter. During the winter we enjoy porridge as a special weekend treat. ~ hugs, Lynda xo

meghan Morris

I love All Bran it's not my favorite, but it makes me smile :) and poop!!!

rhoda

Kim, I'm a raisin bran girl...for a few reasons, LOL. HOney Nut cheerios are pretty tasty too though. I just would rather have that extra fiber!

Rhoa

Rosemary

Crispix and regular Cheerios. I don't like sweet cereal, but I do like a banana in it.
Hope you had a nice breakfast.
Rosemary

natalie

I love Cereal!! HOney nut cheerios, KashiGo Lean, (the crunchy kind), Honey Bunches of Oats, Special K w/red berries, and Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal!!! Sometimes I have cereal for dessert in the evening...hey, it's better for me than ice cream!

Jerri

Rice krispies mixed with chocolate rice krispies. Not very healthy, but so good.
jerripinkpassion.blogspot.com

Marge

Hi Kim! Honey nut cheerios and strawberry shredded wheat!I love those...I like rice krispies too though.

betty r

Cooked steel cut oats, then topped with blueberries, raspberries and ground flax is my favorite.

Roxanne

Ditto here too! Love Honey Nut Cheerios. Grape Nuts have always been a fav with sliced banana in it.

Clare

Hi Kim, my favourite breakfast is a yogurt with fresh fruit - blueberries and raspberries - from our garden - at this time of year! Oh and I must have a cup of Yorkshire tea first thing in the morning!! I enjoyed looking at the lovely magazines by the way! Clare xx

tea time and roses

Oh my goodness Kim, I have so many favorites when it comes to cereal, but right now I would have to say the one I reach for often.... Apple Cinnamon Cherrios. But right now, I want some Honey Nut Cherrios! :o)

Kim thank you for your so sweet comment on "Silhouette"...

Smiles...

Beverly

Rosemary

Hi Kim,
Special K with strawberries (fresh ones) yummy! Hugs, ~Rosemary

Mary

Plain Cheerios, the only cereal I have eaten for the past 30 years...the first bowl with maybe a 3/4 cup of milk and the second bowl with no milk...and then again at night watching tv as a snack (once again, no milk)...its how I keep my girlish figure..haha

Susan Ramey Cleveland

Frosted Mini-Wheats. But I love Honey Nut Cheerios too, and just plain Cheerios as well.

Bethany

I make my own granola that my husband and I eat almost every day! It has almonds, pecans and cranberries in it and it keeps you full until lunchtime! (and regular ;)

Nancy

Hello Kim:
I have been reading and enjoying your blog for a while now but I am sorry to say, I have never commented until today --I saw the cereal and suddenly you were speaking my language! I love Cheerios, too, but this Summer I have become absolutely ADDICTED to Special K with Red Berries. (last Winter it was Quaker Peaches & Cream instant oatmeal.) Lately, I have been thinking about mixed berry yogurt with just a sprinkle of low-fat granola. Maybe it isn't all my little crafty and sewing projects that get me out of bed in the morning -- it's Breakfast!

shellie-the character

Latest kick is Special K with Dried Berries in it...YUM-O!!! and my favorite organic milk Horizon Fat free!! I do love my Cheerios too =)!

Lisa

OK- I'm wierd. I mix them up. I currently have in my cereal container a mixture of Shredded Wheat and Bran, Total, Smart Start and Kashi GoLean. I can't totally do the ones without sugar, but many of them are just too sweet. So, I mix them up. The mixture of taste and texture appeals to me. I must confess, though, the idea wasn't original. My dad has been mixing cereal for decades.

Debbie P

I don't eat much cereal anymore. I'm sure that if I let myself, my favorite would be something like Peanut Butter Captain Crunch. When I buy cereal I always go for the low fat variety. I do love Honey Nut Cherrios!

Kim

Golden Grahams with banana slices!

2nd choice is Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

Lucy

Mmmm yum-yum we love our Cheerios too. Dh sprinkles grape nuts over his with regular milk. I like mine with nanas and soy milk. That's as healthy as I get lololol.

beachy

Hmmmm... probably Cap'n Crunch! I used to love Sugar Smacks, too, but I can't find them anymore. =(

Rose - www.thecenterofmyself.spaces.live.com

I used to always have Grape-Nut ... until I recently discovered Trader Joe's Trail Mix with Cashews, Almonds and Cranberries. Oh so good! Crunchy, nutty, chewy - love it!

Mrs.Staggs

Exactly the same as yours!
I agree, that it's even better with a sliced banana too!
Hope you have a lovely week ahead!

Rhonda

Shredded wheat with strawberries and a little bit of sugar. I lived in Lakeland Fl. for a couple of years and it was so wonderful to walk to the produce stand and get fresh Plant City strawberries, they were so sweet I didn't even need the sugar. Rhonda

Kari

Raisin bran, baby. It's the best!

katie

i must confess, I am a sugar cereal junkie...yesterday, me and my four year old son were desperetly trying to find trix in the cereal aisle. We found them and enjoyed a big bowl this morning.

Laurie

Caspian Farms Organic Granola! Sweet, crunch and good for you too. I buy it at Target for 2.79.

Erin

I think I love Captain Crunch the best because we rarely had it when were kids and when we did the box did not last long with three kids! I also love granola with fresh berries!

Good night Kim :)

Cheryl

Raisin with bananas, too. Or else Captain Crunch, but I like to eat it plain right out of the box.
Cheryl

deserae

Hmmmmm.....I don't do breakfast unless you count Pepsi?!?!?! LOL....
~Des

Elaine L.

Honeynut Cherios have ALWAYS been my favorite!

~elaine~

Sheryl from Michigan

Gee, I don't remember "my" favorite cereal. I always end up eating whatever is left over around here. You know, those little bits at the bottom of the box that everyone leaves and goes onto the next box? I just can't stand wasting.

Blessings!

Sue

Cheerios, Raisin Bran, any type of granola an all of them with a sliced banana. That is a must!
A pinch of sugar and soy milk, vanilla.
Yum!

Hugs,
Sue

I also love cut up banana in most any unsweetened type cereal but especially cherios and corn flakes. Oh, and can't forget the drizzle of honey. :)

Salina

Oops! That last post was by me. Forgot name and URL. :)

KJ

I can definitely dive into that bowl! Cheerios were a staple growing up. When they merged with honey, I was even happier!

Lately, I have been cooking quinoa and adding a drizzle of honey and some half and half. It is an ancient, complete protein cereal-- although it's not a grain but in the fruit family.. It fills me up.

Cheerio,
KJ

cd&m

Actually we're rather fond of Cheerios too!

Heather ~ Pretty Petals

Beautiful Beautiful photos!! I just love your home and the colors you choose go so nicely. Love the little details you have shown!

Heather

Lorraine

Muffets for me here in Canada. Do you have those in the the U.S.? They're 100% whole wheat in circle shapes about an inch deep.

Lallee

Honey Nut Cheerios are my husband's favorite cereal. I eat it when I run out of favorite--Great Grains.

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
