Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Thanks so much for sharing. Today was a bit of a bittersweet day for me. I'm so happy you and your mother had a beautiful experience. That fireplace is so pretty. Again thanks for the pictures!

The pictures are just gorgeous, and I am sure you and your Mom had a wonderful mother, daughter afternoon sharing high tea.

Kim, what an enchanting place to spend time with your mom! Everything was so perfect and every little detail attended to...a delight I'm sure. And, such a warm memory for you two to share.

How lovely! So girlie! I love it. Thanks so much for sharing!

What a beautiful place... I wish my mom were here and we could do things like this. You are lucky. Now I'm even more homesick...

That is so charming! I love everything about it! I hope you had a beautiful day with your mom!

Thinking of you...

I agree, thank you so much for sharing these lovely pictures. What a perfect place for tea, the details are so touching, from the place cards to the beautiful tables. How lucky you are to be able to have a day like this with your mom. I appreciate sharing it with you through the pictures :)

How lovely this is! We do not have our little tea shoppes where I live anymore. I really miss going there with my girls and friends. My mom never got to go with us as sadly, she has severe dementia. Thank you for posting the photos Kim.

Oh, Kim! What an absolute fantasy of a tea room! I wish I could take my daughter there!!! We had tea twice on our cruise (a gift from a dear friend... can you believe someone was that kind and generous to me!? I had never been on a cruise!) and thoroughly loved it! Of course, Catherine (my daughter, 22) was in England in May (courtesy of her father) and she's done the REAL thing (tea in Britain!).

The decor in that tea room is "me" to a "tea"!!! :) Shabby roses and pink!!

And a note on an earlier post: I can't believe how adorable your OFFICE is!!! Is there any pore in your body that doesn't exude STYLE!? I am so envious of your gift! :)

Blessings always, ~ Claudia

Oh My Gosh Kim!! What a beautiful place! I'll bet the food was just as devine.......Glad you had a lovely day with your mum.

Betty @ She's Sew Pretty

Kim, What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. I'll bet it is even prettier in person. Are the pink rolled up shapes on the plates napkins?

Thank you SO much for inviting me to tea with you and your mom! Such a lovely place...everything had a delightful tea theme, but very few exact matches, like the many different teacups and chairs. Wonderful. Oh, and the hats, what amazing outfits they would have gone with. And was it my imagination or did some chairs actually have a hat on the seat?? Yes, I like to look carefully at your photos because they capture so much!

What a beautiful place. I love these kinds of places.

Oh Kim this looks so pretty and the treats on the trays look fantastic! It reminded me of an afternoon suprise that my Husband's mom treated me to for my birthday one year. It was a lovely tea house much like this and what a special day it was for me. Thank you so much for sharing this and for reminding me of a sweet memory.

Hi Kim,

I just recently found your blog and am enjoying it immensely. I noticed you mentioned you lived in central Florida and I was curious where your darling home is since I live in Florida too. When I checked out the Camellia Rose website, I realize we are practially "neighbors" because I'm in St. Petersburg. (And my daughter has been temporarily living and working in Dover!) But I'm really excited to know I can actually go experience this charming tea room myself because it's so close!!!! I didn't even realize Camilla Rose existed until your post. Thanks for enlightening me.

I've never been to a place like that, but if I was every lucky enough to...I'd sure feel all girly and pretty there!

Loved it all sooo much! Thanks for sharing with us. It all reminded me of my fantasy living room:

...and gave me some more ideas of what I'd like to do in my next house. Thanks again! Blessings, Debra

So lovely -- Each element speaks of caring , and the experience of tea -- I love to give tea parties and add all the sweet touches -- Sometimes as a gift to those who will get it -- I give a vintage tea cup , a silver spoon ( on the cheap -from flea markets
-that fits their style - and the book "If Teacups Could Talk "-- My dtr(now 40 ) and i
had lots of tea parties when she was a child - Now my 10 yr old Grandaughter --and Grand son too have had tea parties -- we even baked special treats together for a surprise for their Mom .
YOur site always makes me smile --inspires and delights the eye .

Oh what a lovely place to have a spot of tea. Just gorgeous. There is a littel tea house that just opened up in our little town (Wolfeboro NH) called the "Music Room" ....I think. She is serving tradition English high teas and I think I will make a reservation for this coming week! You've inspired me!

Lisa 'oceandreamer' S.

Such a wonderful day with your mom. It looks like a wonderful place! I do the same with my mom when she visits me in MN. I love the picture of you - I hadn't ever seen you before and I'm so glad to be able to think of your lovely face now when I visit you. Hope you are well.

What fun!

The Decorated House

Hey Kim!
I keep thinking your city is so much smaller than it really is. Sweet Husband reminded me today that it is much larger than it was the many, many years ago since I was there. You have some wonderful to enjoy. Thanks for sharing your fun day with your mom, with us. What a sweet place for tea!

What a beautiful tea room! I just love the decor and would have loved to visit it with my mom. So glad you were able to go with yours. I know my daughter would love it (and she's only 6 LOL!) A perfect spot for a "girl's day out." Thank you for sharing these delightful pictures of your special day. Blessings, Marann

The first thing that got me was your beautiful home, then followed by Stranger on the Shore playing. My Dad listened to that a lot when I was a kid. I will be spending a lot more time here. Thank you for sharing your lovely ideas.

Dear Kim, I just want you to know how truly touched I am that you would include pictures of my tea room on your website. You take great pics! Your blog is very inspiring and the music brings back pleasant memories of my Dad, he listened to those songs when I was a child. I believe the black and white Wedgewood is the Malvern pattern. I have some jewelry made from that pattern, it is so pretty. Is your home as relaxing as your descriptions? How do you do it? I will be looking forward to the October issue of Romantic Homes. I hope to see you again.
Take Care,

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
