Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Angela (Cottage Magpie)

I am so jealous! I am just setting up my new office after my big move and I have no furniture or anything to work with. I really want to find a cute desk like what you have (where did you get it?). I also must say I am tres jealous of your big stack of gorgeous books! Yum! You're an inspiration! ~A :-)

Beautiful room! I really like your writing table. I've been searching for one like that for ages. It's nice to be in a cheery room while doing the bills.

Lovely office Kim! I'm dying to know where you found the black and white check wing chair cover - love it!

What a cosy and inviting space Kim. I would spend a lot of time in a place like this.

Hello Ms. Kim! I didn't get much sleep last night (dh ws snoring) tired. As soon as I came to visit you it revived my spirits! The wonderful colors & whimsy! Thanks for the smile! I needed it. xoxo, cherry

All clean, indeed! Your distinctive touches make the room just beautiful and inviting: the bright yellow ceramic teapot with the red pencils and the stack of red books next to it, the yellow cup and saucer with little paper goodies, your perfectly stacked books, the black and white checked plate to match the b/w chair - it's all utterly charming!

Now that's a cute office. Every woman should have a little niche like that. Really cute!

Where oh where did you get that black and white little seat/stool/bench thingy. You have the best eye!

I love your office. The white cabinet is beautiful. Does it have a story?

I love the touches of green, red, yellow and black that you use throughout your cottage.

Kim, it is just so stinkin' cute! I love your style and I *want* your office. We are in the process of moving and downsizing our home office, so this is great timing and your pics have been great inspiration.

Your space is so amazing... I really need some ideas/help with my office!

I have to share an office with the Mister who actually works from home in there, so he's put the brakes on most of my girly - cottagy ideas! (pout pout whimper whine) hehehe!

Love your pretty space and funky carpet!

It's really pretty Kim. What a nice job you've done of decorating and organizing.
I'd have a hard time working in such a nice space! I'd just sit there day dreamin' all day.

What a lovely room! You have a gift for decorating dear lady :)

Hi Kim!

The addition of the green rug is perfection! Love it all!

Your office is too cute, I love the stacks of books and the teapot with pencils in it.
Everything looks so put together, I hope someday I get my "office" together too.
It must be nice to sit down at that desk and do your daily chores.
I love your blog and music.

Stay sweet. :) Bren

Gorgeous room! I love the little yellow pitcher used for holding pencils, how clever! You really do have a great decorating style, thanks for sharing all the inspiring photos!

Ahhh! This office is my dream! How do you do it? Thanks so much for sharing, I feel motivated to file and clean tonight!

Kim, I love your office! I've been looking for "rose" folders and haven't found you have any suggestions of where I might find them? Thanks!

I too, love your office. I would love to know the wall color in your office and where did you find those adorable black and white file folders? Daisy Cottage is one of my favorite places to visit! Be back tomorrow!

Esther Sunday

Stunnig room!!! You are so amazing!!! Love, Esther

Hi, I love visiting your blog, and often feel the need to leave a comment to you, you have so many visitors! I often wonder if you would manage to get to my comment, tee hee, I love the colour combinations you use in you lovely home, especially red. Best Wishes to you this day, Annie x

Everything is so nice and neat! Does your husband use this space at all or is it truly yours? My husband shares my desk space and drives me crazy because he always leaves papers and mess everywhere!

Daisy Cottage

Thank you EVERYONE!
Annie, I DID see your lovely comment((hugs))
The cute folders came from Tuesday Morning.. the wall color is "Richly Red" by Waverly and can be found at Lowe's.. my hubby has his own office (in our basement/Man Cave) and I am spoiled rotten to have this space as all MINE! LOL It is off of the living room too.. command central! The desk is meant to be a sofa table, I believe, but I use it this way. It came from a consignment shop for a song and a dance and the creamy buffet was an old bedroom dresser that my sister had and she painted it, then passed it on to me, and I painted the top black and added the knobs. Thanks for asking - and thanks for LOOKING! xo, me

What a great space! You are very lucky!

Penny - Mosaic Artist from Lavender Hill Studio

What a wonderful space! My office, my photography studio and my mosaic studio are all in the same room! Way to much going on and I need to stream line it some. Your room is an inspiration.

Can you tell me what size your room is? It looks large!

It is just pure Daisy Cottage and you. Love everything and I can see why you enjoy your time there. I LOVE the green rug!

Yes, I was one of your net-friends who asked for most pics so thank you so much for this glimpse into the office heart of Daisy Cottage! I see the laptop sitting invitingly on your white desk..and NO WIRES!! You must have a router hidden away somewhere that connects everything through the airwaves. THat's one of my office space has so many wires, it's kind of scary. And I share my laptop with my daughter because my own desktop has arthritis and dementia :) I'm looking forward later to enjoying a very close look at your photos, 'cause I've got to get going right now..

melissa @ the inspired room

Wow, lucky you to have a such wonderful room all to yourself! And your dear husband to allow you to embellish it with everything you love, while he heads to his man cave! :-) A girl has got to have her space!

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE it! what is better than a clean, newly organized room? nothing!

Kim, your office is fabulous! Love the colors, the accessories, the NEATNESS! I've been neatening up my own office - what a job!

What a perfect, cottagey office you have Kim! I love being able to picture you sitting there blogging. I understand about having a critter in your lap. My cat, Tummy, is always snoozing away in my lap while I'm visiting with all of you!

My office space is decorated a little differently...I have a Star Wars room. Really. I posted pictures on my blog a month or so ago because I thought it was pretty cool. Now I see how wrong I was! I love my Star Wars, don't get me wrong. But it'd be so nice to have a RESTFUL place to pay my bills and blog, etc. And Star Wars is a lot of things, but restful? Not so much. Beautiful space you have here. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Kim.... I love your pretty, clean office, and I love the pictures of your beautiful home.. beautiful, beautiful. You have quite a talent for color and style... I so like "coming here" to "visit" you... and Miss Maggie too of course!

Kim from "Home Is Where The Heart Is"

Hi Kim, What a lovely room for you and your sweet Maggie to spend time in. Every thing is beautiful as usual. You truly are an inspiration and I absolutely adore you, Maggie, and your wonderful blog. I just love Maggie's new bench, too!

Thank you for stopping by to see me and for your kind comment about my "kitchen corners".

*Sigh*....I'd love to pay bills in a room as beautiful as yours.

Your office is so pretty!!
I love those rugs. They are really fun.
I guess that room puts you in a better bill paying frame of mind.
Thanks so much for sharing your office with us.

I haven't been here often but it makes me smile and I'm finding it always makes me smile!

HOW CUTE is that? The office and the dowgy bed...You've got a great home Daisy! xo

I am so Jealous!!! Your cottage is so amazing!!! I love every little detail and can tell how lovingly you choose your treasures and how well they all work together!!!
I am inspired to get my Scrap Room organized and decorated like your office.
I tune in to your blog daily to see what new items you have added to your lovely Cottage!!!
Thanks so much for sharing!!

I think I spy a familiar cottage on P 18 of Romantic Home Magazine. Um, could it be Daisy cottage????????

Ohhhhhh I love, love, love your office!!!!! It is so bright and cheery and looks like the perfect spot for reading your favorite decorating magazines and books!!!! My favorite part is the sweet little polka dot bench just for Miss Maggie :o)So sweet!

Well it's all been said, it IS a beautiful space Kim. If I could get DH's stuff out of my studio/office/sewing/computer room I could perhaps come somewhere close!!

Yes, Tuesday Morning sometimes has great paper items such as those file folders - I love to rummage through that section of the store - but it's usually a real mess so one has to be patient and enjoy the hunt.

See you are showing two time zones on your clocks - Florida and ?????

Enjoy each day with sweet Maggie in your lovely room.
Hugs, Mary.

Kim your space is lovely. Thanks for the inspiration I needed as I set forth working on mine. Hugs, Lucy

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
