Whew! Now THAT was wonderful! I'm back from our little getaway and we had SO much fun!! Thank you all for your sweet comments below! If you haven't treated yourself yet to a summer escape, please try to do so... even if it is only for a couple of hours or a couple of days. You deserve it! Shannon is doing great and my sis and I really enjoyed spending time with her - we laughed and laughed and I'm sure, well I KNOW, that we made silly spectacles of ourselves everywhere we went. Isn't that what "girl time" is all about? And let me tell you... her college town is a HAVEN for thrift shops! My heart filled with pride as Shannon thrifted right along beside us like a true pro. Not one suburban mall did we visit! She really fell in love with an adorable shop called, "The Other Side" and her mommy and aunt spoiled her as we bought her some funky sunglasses, jewelry, and a really cool retro dress. Unfortunately, it seems that I didn't take any pictures of those, but I managed to snap a few of the shop and the others that we visited, because, OF COURSE, I took you all along with me ...
We visited several Goodwills and I almost bought a small green teapot fountain but decided to leave it behind... this particular Goodwill had a wonderful selection of books -
We stumbled upon a sweet "Mom and Pop" shop that was filled to the ceiling with lots of goodies... can you see the green suitcases up there on the shelf?
Now you know I so wanted to bring this aqua cutie home, but it was priced too high..
Happily though, I spotted these teeny tiny red heart knitting needles and they were one of the thrifted treasures that I brought home to Daisy Cottage..
We left the shop above and as we headed off to our next thrifting destination we suddenly realized that we were obviously driving down the WRONG side of the road as VERY big trucks were coming right at us! Ooops! We made THAT correction quickly and came upon this unexpected haven that was to our right and our hearts started doing that pitter patter of thrifting anticipation...
What a cute place this was - lots of painted furniture and vintagy things including sinks and bathtubs. This is on my "must go back and visit with a U-Haul list". Our last thrift shop that we visited was through this gate .....
More tempting treasures to see and ponder over.....
I LOVED the fabrics used for these sweet curtains...
and I really, really, really, wish I could have bought this... wouldn't this be wonderful nestled in a garden? It was the perfect shade of green... sigh....
So, lucky for me, my daughter's college town is a true HAVEN for thrifting treasures! Even luckier, she and I can share this love for all things shabby, eclectic, and vintage TOGETHER. What more could a mother ask for??? ;-)
Wow! That was almost like going thifting. I found myself wanting to step into your pics to see what was around the corner. I love th eknitting needles.

Welcome back! I missed you but I'm so glad you were able to spend time with Shannon. And thrifting with her is even better. Thanks for the trip through the shops your visited - I found myself almost shopping while looking at the pictures. Glad you have a wonderful time and a safe trip.

I'm thrilled you had such a wonderful trip and time with Shannon. What a special girl she is! We take day trips and a-few-hour trips every week if possible. Hubby and I both love, love, love exploring. These shops are incredible. Where did you say they are located? This could cause me to take a longer trip out of these mountains. Come and read about my new toy. I'm in love! xoxo

Wow! That certainly looks like my kind of town. I'm glad Shannon is doing well. It probably makes your heart rest a little better.

Welcome home, Kim! And what a fun time you had, by the looks of those pics. Wish I could have been right there with you! Those kinds of places are so much fun. And how neat that Shannon love thriftig too. Either people "get" it or they don't & it's hard to convince people of the joy of thrifting.

Oh Kim, Iam so glad you had such a wonderful time! My girls hated thrifting when they were younger & now they beg to go. How times change. Glad Shannon enjoys going, I think it is in the blood. My dad got me started young.
I love those suitcases & the crib. I wish I had been there. Would have needed a big U-Haul!
Glad you are back, Donna

Welcome back Kim. I really missed you while you were gone. Thanks for letting us visit with you as you walked through each shop of goodies. I must try and get there next spring. Looks like it would be hard to choose but I know the price has a lot of to with it. LOL Isn't it amazing what this "old" stuff sells for now days? Years ago we were getting rid of it. LOL Thanks again for sharing your trip with us. I know all three of you had a great time. I remember taking such a trip with my sister in California - it was a special time for me.
Hugs,

SO glad you had a great visit. My big girl comes home in 10 days - she's been gone all summer, and then promptly moves out for college. At least she'll be in town. But OUR town doesn't have great stores like that!

Hi Kim,
What great stuff! Where did you go?
I am off to California for a week and will try to hit some of the "junk" shops (as if there is anything cheap in California!...)around Santa Monica and Venice Beach between work.
You have such great flair and sense of style. And you write like an angel!
