Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

What an adorable chair! Maggie is too precious...those doggie eyes. A person is sucked in forever with one look from those! I love how you can see into several rooms at once from that area! Love the saturation of colors in your home! They all tie in so well. The wonderful rooster rug. The doors. The high ceilings. *Sigh* All of it!! Do you have an extra room for me??? Maybe you can turn it into a B&B??

Oh, Maggie is a cutie!...however you can tell she's a bit put out! the rug she's laying on...thanks for sharing the pictures. Toni

Maggie is a cutie. Our dogs, Cairn Terriers, also do not like things changing. They have been unhappy with our painting the exterior of the house! We are just not available to them as often as they would like - which in their little minds is 100% of the time!
I love your mat, in front of your 'gypsy' chair. Looks like a fun spot to sit and relax!

Susan Ramey Cleveland

Love that rooster rug. Tell Maggie I'm sorry that she had to lie on the floor (bless her heart), but I'm grateful for the opportunity to see more of Daisy Cottage.

Poor sweet doggy. How pretty it is at the cottage :)

Poor Maggie.......I usually have four dogs surrounding me with those puppy dog eyes...How great to have such adoring fans. Give Maggie a hug from me

Look at that sad reproachful face! Such a darling! And yes -- four cats here are much affronted when things are shifted or moved around ..... "I WAS NOT INFORMED!" "DID THE COMMITTEE APPROVE OF SUCH ACTIONS" ....."REALLY! THE NERVE OF SUCH PEOPLE ....." and so on ..... until treats and cuddles have been provided!

(yes -- bribery is considered a guiding force here at Rosemary Cottage ....)

Big cuddles to Maggie! Jan xo (with help from the committee -- time for dishing up dinner!)

Oh, that look! She is really getting your attention with that sweet face. It's so amazing how expressive those little critters can be & you know exactly what they're thinking.

Love that chair, Kim...wherever you have it. The black/white fabric is so fresh & will go with any color you put it with.

Awww, poor Maggie! Send her my way and I'll give her one of those peanut butter cookies...minus the chocolate kiss, of course!

My daughter says your doggie looks sad!

That is one sweet dog and I can just imagine what those "sad" eyes get away with! LOL
Love the different room colours and the white door ways!

Your house is so colorful and inspiring! It always makes me smile to get a glimpse inside your Daisy Cottage!

I love the photos of your home. The colors are perfect. Maggie is so cute!

Betty @ She's Sew Pretty

Oh gosh,'ve got to stop this. Now, I need a cute doggie like yours and a new home with red walls. eye eye yi!

Love this view of your home. Each room is just "perfection" including Maggie. I love the black/white chair. I have two wing backs that I hope to slipcover one of these days. Is your sister for hire? LOL

Bunny Tales

Kim, I am in desperate need of your help. Can't you come visit for a few weeks and help me decorate? You are such an inspiration to me! PLEASSSSEEEEE come visit and bring Maggie!

That's a great 3 room view! It shows how your colors all work together...pretty!
Maggie is just too cute, she's one pampered pup.
Everything looks perfect.

That Maggie definitely looks a little upset. My Syd was kind of upset this week too, since I decided to start making the bed first thing in the morning, thus robbing her of her early morning return to the cozy bed.

What a sweet little face Ms. Maggie has! I am so happy to see her again! :)
Love the chair- it looks so comfy!! I also love the pillow case! Growing up i had a set of sheets on my bed just like it! ( yellow with white daisy's - it doesn't get any better than that!! )
Would you mind sharing where you bought the big rug at?? I just love it!!!

Oh my, what a look! I love this photograph of Miss Maggie!
I'm pretty fond of that lovely chair too. I love black and white checks and how they seem to go with everything. Adding the pillowcase lent just the right touch of whimsy to your decor. Wonderful as usual Kim!

oh maggie how i love you - make your mean mummy take more photo's of your pretty face - you have a fan club to keep happy!
tracy x

Kim, I love the chair! That little black heart pillow is so cute! Did you make it?
And poor little Maggie....surely you could've had just one cup of coffee with her on your lap then "thrown" her off to start moving...LOL!!!!! I have a little black doxie mix and he's exactly like that. Lap time is so special to him, they really are like kids. LOL

Oh of course you had to move that darling chair to a new happy spot. And of course Maggie was not one bit happy about it... surely an extra piece of cheese or a bit of cookie is in order... and read her a story while snuggled in that pretty comfy chair.
Such a sweet face.

Kim, I love that shot of the chair with the french doors! It's beautiful!

Maggie is a sweetie pie! Molly thinks she's a lap dog...she doesn't know she weighs 65lbs!!

Back Porch Musings

I love the way all your room colors flow together, just gorgeous!

The Feathered Nest

Maggie does look a bit put upon LOL. She is a cutie patootie! Maxie often thinks he's a lap dog, especially when it's thundering. He get's right in my lap - all 77 lbs of him LOL!

Love what you did with your chair - that was quick and easy and makes for a pretty change.

C. Stower

Cute, cute, cute, the dog, the chair, all of it!! I love your bright colors and how you have put it all together. You are one talented gal! Hugs, cindy

Love the chair, it does look inviting by the entry.

A lovely look into your home I would agree MOVE those chairs around!Maggie has the sweetest eyes..I recognise the lookas I have 3 felines that want my attention! Have a good week!hugs NG

Ohhhh, how I am dripping with envy (if i can say that) know what I mean...your home is just soooo.........sooooooooo pretty in every way! I love how the colors all flow and sing! It's happy over there, Kim!!!! Love it all......such pretties...your yellow chandy is so perfect there and the chair....ohhh...and your cute doggie.....I want to move sooo a cute old house! Enjoy it for me! Not that anything is wrong with a brand new house, but you know what I mean! Not as much character. I'm working on it though. ;)

The Decorated House

Oh LOVE that shot showing a glimpse of all three rooms. Simply beautiful!

Poor Maggie, what a face!
But I bet she got some extra attention shortly afterwards.
Smart girl moving things inside! Why am I outside in this heat?

I spent Saturday evening showing your house to my buddy Terri. She has her living room painted red and wants her kitchen and dining room yellow. Someone she works with told her it would be awful! AWFUL??? That person has NO sense of style!! I showed her YOUR home and she was totally smitten! Of course!!
Your home is to die for!!

I adore Maggie...we had a long haired, red doxie named Mandy. She was with is for 15 years and all too spoiled and dotted on but, isn't that how it should be? : )

Love you every inch of your home!

Pick up that poor baby! My goodness, making that sweet little puppy lay on the 'gasp' floor. I am surprised that the 'special animal police' didn't knock down the door and take that little angel away from you!(haha the look in her eyes says it all!)

Another victim of "must-rearrange-something-itis"!! It's almost an addiction! My husband gets sore shins from banging into things that weren't there yesterday. I tell him that it's either make what we already own look even better, or buy all new stuff! That usually helps him to better appreciate my ingenuity and effort.. ;)

Doxies do tend to get spoiled, don't they? We had them growing up and now once again my parents are happily spoiling another one. :)

I love the chair, Kim, black & white are such striking combinations and the yellow addition is perfect! Just lovely!

Betty Jo

That has got to be the cutest picture ever of Maggie (I say that every time you post one, don't I?)! How do you resist that face? Oooooo I love your photos of the inside view of Daisy Cottage and your adorable chair. Love the yellow and green chair embellishment you created. I've started a second blog, like I don't have anything else in the world to do but blog! I wanted a food blog so set it up yesterday and made my first post today. Drop by for a peek. xoxo

I just love Maggie Mae's sweet little face. The poor baby looks so dejected, lying on the rug with Mommy's chair sitting there empty. Now, go give that baby some lovin':)

You are an amazing inspiration. I am adding you to my favs, so I don't lose you. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing you lovely home.

Love your blog! A breath of fresh air! I have a little cottage as well...I wish I could follow you around Goodwill one day! I never seem to find any of the good stuff! Oh to find some aprons!!!!

Come by my blog for a visit's fairly new but it's getting there, LOL!!

Have I told you how much I love your house? That rooster rug I see if fantastic! Give Maggie a kiss for me please? :) She is pure sweetness!!

Southern Heart

Maggie is so sweet! I know how you feel....Daisy likes her "mama-time", too. I always enjoy seeing your photos....that door is gorgeous, too!

Wow, beautiful home! The doggie is a cutie too!

Hi Kim, I love your chair. I wish I had something comfortable like that. I have a wingback, but it's just not made for me. I never sit in it. I can relate to the moving stuff around thing so much. I am exactly the same way. I have been doing it since I was about 10 years old. My son hates it. He never knows what the apartment is going to look like. And I love that shot of Maggie. Precious. Take care. Kim.

kim in Camas

darling darling room! I was just thinking.."wow, how did she sew the back of that chair?" Great job on using a pillow case. Love that.

Lisa B.

Your bedroom is very pretty Kim, it reminds me of one I saw in a book I have, Canadian home and country. Really nice!

What a beautiful home you have!

What a sweetie Maggie is and that chair of yours...oh my do I LOVE it! Great rooster rug, too!

Sadie Olive

I love the chair! And no sewing involved?!!? Sounds like my kind of project! :)

Ohhhhhhhh, I love the look you captured that Maggie gave you ~ & your narration of what she was thinking, LOL. I had a black "doxie" for 17 years in my youth, so am especially getting a kick out of Maggie's expectations &, LOL, her way of saying it all with her eyes!

Wow ~ nothing like a comfy chair, & love the way you changed the whole look with a single pillowcase! To draw the together the colors of several rooms with that vintage piece is awesome. I can see why you have so many who come to enjoy your blog & be inspired. Am enjoying this immensely!

Have a great day!

Carolyn :-)

Your home is so beautiful...

Hi maggie,
You look like me. I know how to wrap my mommy around my finger too. Stop over and see me sometimes at mommys blog.
Miss Candi

What a lovely blog-inspiring at that! I just wanted to let you know that I have been avoiding the cottage-style in me for too long! I have now surrendered to the cold, modern decor-I have never felt like it was "me"! Thank you for helping me see this-I am also in my 30's and have two children and was very inspired by your blog. Thanks! Cynthia

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
