Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

I love to see corners of your home! It is so cozy and adorable.

I love to see corners of your home! It is so cozy and adorable.

What a cozy and restful space!

I love your bedroom! Who needs lavish? Lavish just distracts you, instead of making you feel comfortable.
I especially love the red table and the red comforter--very romantic and warm!

So cozy and romantic, I could sleep for days!

Yet another room of your home that i just
**LOVE!** The color is so warm and relaxing and comfortable!!!
I to have a old worn window that someone actually threw away! ( can you believe that??) I have been thinking about putting a few of my fav pictures of my family and taping them on there.
I love your little purse that is hanging on your frame and of course your little red table!!~ :) Has always thanks for inviting us in at Dasiy Cottage!

I can't believe that your bed is EVER unmade - don't you and hubby kind of levitate over it so as not to muss the coverlet?

If I took a picture of a corner in my bedroom, which has a layout I liken to a bowling lane, you would see dust of varying thicknesses and a dead fly that I noticed this morning but was too late for work to pick up. Hopefully Trumpet won't discover it before I give him a proper burial (flush). The fly, not Trumpet silly, who, btw, now has 5 points and is engaged to be bred! To a saucey red longhair. Don't tell MM. She'll be crushed. xoxoxo cher

Kim, your bedroom is very sweet, cozy and so cottagey. I really like your use of color and the way that it pulls everything together. Thanks for the peek! Hugs, Cindy

I'd take your bedroom any day! In fact, I could curl up for a nap on that bed right now :)

Another favorite place in your house, Kim. How fun to see all the little touches in there. You do such a great job with everything. I have a window similar to yours in my laundryroom decopagued with flowers. Those are great to hang up!

Your bedroom is just lovely and I'm glad I'm not the only one with a small one. Once I decide what I'm going to do for a headboard and wall decor I may post photos. I adore the window and am looking for something similar. What did you use to attach it to the wall? I've seen them with hooks added and they look awesome. xoxo

Wylie Hunt

I had an old window that a friend of mine replaced the glass panes with mirrors. I hung it on a dark wall in my dining room, and it actually looked like a window if you glanced at it quickly! Just thought I'd pass along the idea. Your bedroom is beautiful. So cozy.

I think it is all quite wonderful, lovely, restful, full of special details that make you feel welcome and happy.

I adore your shelf next to your bed, it is gorgeous!!! And I think it is cozy and warm and I would love to relax with a good book there!!! It is beautiful!!!!

Love your photos! I've always loved a bed that is placed at a window~ as a "headboard" ..."Good Day Sunshine" I see those wallwords at the top of your window.. I have an old window like yours, I have a dried flower wreath hanging from mine~ it's in our hallway...Milton is always bumping in to it. I hear an occasional uuuuurrrggg from him. Pour Milton, our little cottage, and my decorating, and my big man sometimes don't get along! lol! : )

How very delightful! Such a cozy room. I'd never want to leave it.

I'd be really interested in a post about how you deal with storage issues in your little cottage. We live in a small home, but things don't look quite as cozy because I'm storage challenged and I think my creativity has gone on hiatus.

Your room is wonderful and cozy. I love what you do with your home. We also have a small room that is on it's way to being cozy. When I get a few more things finished I'll post pictures. I have a wonderful old window that didn't work for the spot I bought it for. I'm going to get it out of the garage and hang it over my desk with family pictures and memorabilia. Thanks for the wonderful idea. I didn't know what I wanted above the desk but it will be perfect -- I'll share it when it's done.

Your home is so pretty! I wish you would post more pictures for us to see ;) Rosemary

Becky at Cottage*Dreams

Your home is amazing! What do I see peeking out of your bathroom? Is that an old antique piece with a sink? Do you rent rooms? LOL. I love the purse hanging on the window, too. Happy Day, Kim! xo, Becky

Oh wow, you are an amazing decorator! I wish I had just a teensie bit of your artfulness.
Once again, lovely!

I just love your bedroom. It's so cozy and romantic. Love the tray too!

Won't you come decorate my cottage? As always, you have each room tie in so well with your overall look, and it's adorable!! I'd love to email you pics of ours so you can give me suggestions...

Like Grace, I'd be interested in what you do for storage in a small home. We live in a small place, too. I love my little cozy bedroom as well! Just enough room for the bed, dresser and maybe a nightstand or two. But sooo cozy! Only our windows aren't so nicely placed, they make it more awkward for bed placement.

When we bought our first older home and replaced the windows, we took the old ones with us, and now the new (to us) cottage we moved into had a few old windows just sitting in the garage that we've adopted! Can't believe anyone wouldn't want them, but so glad they don't so we can have them!

Love to see these corners of your home, Kim. My dream is a little cottage-y bungalow, and I love imagining it through your photos. Fun, fun!

Kim, I love your bedroom. Our room is very small and that makes it difficult to decorate but I've done my best, too.
I think I have the same quilt as you or at least it looks very similar. I got the quilt and shams at TJMaxx about 2 years ago and I've been looking for fabric to match and haven't found any. Do you happen to know the name of the fabric or maybe who made the quilt? TJMaxx doesn't always have the tags on their stuff. I love yours, looks so coordinated with the pillows, etc.

Cozy......and very charming. It's a very inviting room, as all your rooms are.

Kim, you are the cozy queen! I love the way you decorate! Your taste is exquisite! Can you come and do my house? ;)

I could snooze there....I love comfy..the little sliver of your bathroom looks adorable, I vote for a peek in there next !!!

Thanks for the post !!!

Kathy =)

Been traveling a few days and came home to find this cozy bedroom. I love it. I love the picture taken from the hall too. I have always preferred "cozy" spaces to larger ones. You did a great job. Is that LAOlive4. I have that in my LR/FR combination area. The color is an easy one to work with and especially red. LOL

You know how much I prefer cozy to lavish any day! Your home is amazin'...each and every corner of it. And I do believe I spied a gorgeous bathroom! Antique chest for a vanity and a wonderful tiled floor! I have had that sort of tile in mind for our baths when we re do them later this year! Gorgeous!

You have the best taste!

The Glitter Fairy

I'm so impressed! A "made" bed! I've heard of them but rarely see one at my house!!! Your home is charming!

Hmmm...your bedroom walls are the same color as my kitchen, and I like you red accents with it, I think you have given me an idea! :)

Esther Sunday

Lovely! I would much prefer a cozy cottage than a big "MacMansion"! Such charm!
Love, Esther

Betty @ She's Sew Pretty

I think you should come decorate my house! I love the green paint on your walls especially with the red accents. So pretty!

I love your cozy bedroom. It would be like waking up on vacation in a Bed and Breakfast
every morning. What's not to like about that!

I want that bedtray!

Kim, what a wonderful bedroom you cozy and inviting! Your red bedspread looks very similar to one that I have draped at the end of my bed. I love what you did with the old've given me some ideas since we recently had our old wooden windows replaced and I've kept a few of them. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!

Hello from Switzerland! I love your little cottage. It's so cozy. I have bookmarked your site and I look forward to reading about your cottage lifestyle.

I thought I posted a comment, but guess not. I think I was looking here and talking to one of the girls on the phone at the same time!

Your bedroom has always been a favorite of mine, here and in your former home! It's absolutely perfectly beautiful!!

Back Porch Musings

One Womans Cottage Life

Your bedroom looks so cozy and inviting - I'll choose that over large and glamorous anyday! Our masterbedroom is little as well, and I don't think I'd have it any other way!

Anna Maria

Kim, I sleep on nothing but 300 count or higher Egyptian cotton and I'll be there first thing in the morning.
I'll stay as long as it takes my family to get my house clean while I'm gone.
beautiful home, girlie, what a nest!

Truly charming with much master decorator! LOVE it! hugs NG

Oooooo -- a cozy comfy bedroom! And so charming -- and lavished by love and attention to detail! Always a luxury to sleep in a cozy room! You really do have the most style -- time for you to think about writing and creating a design-and-decor book!

Jan x at Rosemary Cottage where the bedding has been throughly shaken, tidied and cajoled into a state of order -- for today! :)

The Feathered Nest

When my house is "all clean" - I don't think that's ever happened LOL! Your bedroom looks pretty and comfortable!

My daughter wants to attend SCAD so we're going next month for a tour and just to visit Savannah.

I too would be interested to learn how you handle storage.

You should have called this post master "sweet" because it is certainly that! I prefer cozy over lavish, too. But our current house has a 20x20 foot master bedroom. It was a challenge cozying up a space that size. I sure could have used your help, Kim!

I'm a big fan of sleeping, and I love decorating bedrooms...your bedroom is beautiful and looks like the perfect place to snooze!

Cozy it is!

What a lovely little spot to hide away~ just crying out for a good book & a quick nap :)

Love your corners Kim I've added your window idea to my windows page, Great quick project.
And I know your bed is never unmade :)

The Decorated House

It all looks new to me! I know I've seen the bedroom before, but it so much fun that you change little things here and there. I still love your "old" bedroom, but this new one is perfect for the house and your new life there. Cozy is perfect.

the recipe looks so good, yum! love that banana cake....your room looks sweet too! xoC

I love your bedroom also!!! And the green walls are very pretty! Would you mind telling me what color that is? And what brand of paint please? I would be most appreciative! My email is: thanks much! Diane

What a great house. It's nice to see some color!

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
