I received a bright and early phone call from my sis today, that there was a local estate sale that we HAD to go to - so off we went!
The lady of this house is being moved into an assisted-living home and so her special things that she didn't want to take with her were being offered up for sale. I believe she was a teacher and obviously loved color AND making her home her nest too. My sister bought a great vintage hi-fi cabinet. I doubt you'll be surprised, but I went immediately for these colorful treasures -
And my favorite find of the day? This pink apron that was in the very back room...
Isn't this just the SWEETEST fabric?
And, shhhhh ~ don't tell her, but as soon as I saw this, I knew that I had to get it for her. It will be on its' way to Texas soon - ;-)
I couldn't wait to share these latest treasures with you - I'm afraid that one day I'll have too many things here at Daisy Cottage and will have to stop bringing them home like dear Charlotte has had to do - but then maybe one day I'll have a website and sell some of my finds like my friend, Donna has suggested.... For now, though, I'll bask in ALL of their cuteness and simply enjoy. And I will always, always, think of the sweet souls who once owned them.
P.S. Thank you ALL very much for your wheelbarrow love! I'm SO glad you liked it! I don't know if dear hubby has read your comments yet or not... heehee ~ but something tells me he'll still be shaking his head! xo, Kim
Oh, what fun!!! Didn't you love Charlotte's post? Also, you've been tagged, sweet thing. See my blog for more details. :)

Kim, you have some wonderful finds, there. I love the Daisies notions card. Those old spools of thread are neat.
I made a lamp from a blue Ball jar. We think it's 2qt. It has a zinc lid. I filled the jar with wooden spools of thread. It had a green gingham shade. I kept it in my laundry at the farm. I still have the lamp, shade is gone. I just got it out from storage. I might put together a little entry, next week, using that lamp and other treasures I could not bear to part with, when we moved from the farm!

OMGosh you cleaned up! I adore the Daisies notion card, so perfect for you! I also love the wooden spools of thread, and the pink apron (do I see daisies on it). I didn't have to click "her" to know who the cherry apron is destined for. She will be delighted! I know what you mean. We have a new thrift store in town. My friend checked it out today and brought me three or four pieces of white-ware that I've just begun collecting, thanks to "her" in Texas! We are going to outgrow our apartment and we haven't been here hardly a month!! xoxo

Kim, that sounds like so much fun...you know I would have been there with you digging through all that stuff for treasures. You got some neat things!
I know what you mean, I'm about at the stopping point myself. I just don't have room for more stuff. I'm thinking about reselling too one day.

I'm a bit sad reading this post as my mother also had to move into an assisted living home and I had the sad task of selling off her belongings to strangers..with each item a memory attached.I could NOT keep it all so I had to sell.
The lady who sold her *precious treasures* and you can see that she ~lOvEd color~ should be so pleased that the items yOu took home are in a loving home with a lady who treasures them and will give them NeW life!! hugs NG

Lovely finds! Absolutely ADORE the pink apron. Can it be hung on a peg somewhere in your kitchen? I agree with Kara, sooo hard to have to sell precious items, but when it go to a good home to continue to be loved, it is somewhat comforting. Love, Esther

May you remember the women whose precious pieces you have bought when you look at your new treasures. She lived a wonderful life. And those memories are in her collection.
P.s
I am making your grandmothers banana bread right now. My kitchen is organic thus the margarine is being replace by organic sour cream. I'll let you know how it comes out.

You have a great eye for delightful treasures! If the lady who owned those things could know how much you will appreciate them, she would be very happy.
Hmmm, I think I might have to make your banana bread today too....

You know a sweet little lady worn those aprons, they are so pretty. What a different world when ladies wore aprons over their nice dresses while cooking and doing light cleaning. Glad you had such good luck.
