Let's see - this round red tablecloth with its' fun fringe was $1 at my Goodwill and the larger creamy casserole dish was $3. The matching, smaller one was $2. So for the grand total of $6 I got a much-needed round tablecloth and wonderful, like-new dishes! Oh how I LOVE thrifting! I can use the tablecloth either on our dining room table OR out on our porch. And the dishes - well they'll be enjoyed over and over again! Have you had a chance to go thrifting lately? If not, I hope you get to soon - there are treasures to be had... just waiting for you to give them a home! Happy hunting!
I went browsing at the Second Hand Rose on Combee and saw plenty I wanted! I have been wanting to hit the Goodwill but havent had a chance to yet.

Ooooooh what great finds! I LOVE going thrifting! It's a new passion of mine. I discovered a new thrift shop the other day - actually my husband did and pointed it out to me - I can't wait to go there! My main scene in the spring and summer is garage sales. It's so much fun!
God bless :)

Gotta get back to that Goodwill!!!!

$6? You're kidding me! You'll probably always remember what a great bargain this was :)

You found such lovely items. I don't know why I have such bad luck. Maybe you should go with me. I guess I'm not looking in the right places.

Very good thrifty finds, Kim! I love the tureen!

I am so jealous of your *thrifting*! I finally, after reading about yours and Tina's fabulous purchases at Goodwill, checked ours out. I was soooooooo disappointed! I didn't buy one thing. Flea markets are awful around here. There is one resell (home stuff) shop around here that is very, very good - but the prices are high. We are big into antiquing, but around here it's antique shops for us - not thrift. Boo hoo!!
Love those dishes!

HUGE *sigh*.... How do you do it?? The best bargains - I'm going to visit your Goodwill. I think I'll take a run down to ours today, but it never seems to have the beautiful things yours does. I do hope to be surprised, though. Happy Friday!

WHAT???
I. Am. Sooooo. Jealous.
I just went and counted mine...I have 9 and I'm sure you are way ahead of that number. I started to "down-size" a few of mine recently, but stopped myself before I made a big mistake. I love them all displayed together but am out of room. The last one I bought at our thrift store was $19.98...time to stop collecting I guess.
It's all purdy, Kim!

Those are great finds & great prices! Our GW has gotten a little pricier...I guess whatever the market will bear :) but I think the days of finding 25 cents jadeite bowls has come & gone around here :)

Just look at what you found! Another wonderful armload of treasures! The casserole dishes are fabulous.

You've come away with some delightful treasures.

You must have a wonderful goodwill store. I love white dishes. These are great.
Posted by: Susan Ramey Cleveland | May 31, 2007 at 02:53 PM
Love it all but that white casserole is just wonderful! I know you will use it for serving AND displaying! Super for both! Perfect color too...for every season and holiday!
You always find the best things!

You always have the best stuff. You are a good treasure hunter. I hope I have good luck at the flea market on Sunday.
Maybe you should come with me.

If only I can find thrift stores that carry anything worthwhile...
Those treasures are just great!
Posted by: Anina | May 31, 2007 at 03:57 PM
Kim, those are all beautiful things. I'd love to score some of those white dishes covered pieces too, but I'm afraid I'm out of display space too. Your Goodwill must be cheaper than ours...I visited a couple, but they weren't that good on prices. I'll have to go back on 1/2 price day & see what they have.

Love, love your dishes. I'm so jealous. I'd be even more jealous if I hadn't found my own thrifted treasures today. So there.

Good heavens above! You find the most WONDERFUL things at your thrift stores! And of course -- those treasures will fit right into the decor at Daisy Cottage! You really do have a knack for finding treasures!

Love, love, love the casserole dishes!! So pretty!

What beautiful casseroles. They're absolutely charming and I love the white against the red tablecloth.
Posted by: Lallee | May 31, 2007 at 09:27 PM
ONe of my favorite antique/thrift shops downtown is for sale. It's in a lovely old victorian house. So, I am going to go soon...not only to shop, but to imagine what I would need to do to turn that house into my home. I'm pretty sure they are asking more than $6, though.
I can dream can't I .
Oh yeah, love your finds! :)
Posted by: Diane Duda | May 31, 2007 at 11:36 PM
I love the casserole dishes you found! After not having been in a thrift store for a couple years, I hit the Goodwill a few weeks back, only to be greatly disappointed. I will try again soon, but I'm a little bummed. How come everyone else gets so lucky? I bet they're all getting there just ahead of me! LOL!
Posted by: Kim | June 01, 2007 at 03:26 AM
If only my Goodwill had stuff like that, but the don't. I envy people that have a good Goodwill. :)
Posted by: Ann | June 01, 2007 at 06:38 AM
Thank you everyone! Sometimes my Goodwill would have a $6 sticker price on something like the larger dish, but usually they are very fair and $3 is the norm. You just have to keep looking... and don't forget about your local thrift shops, Habitat for Humanity, and Salvation Army. Don't give up! Wish I could go thrifting with all of you!

I thought of you, "Dear Daisy"! At the thrift, I spotted one white soup tureen for $3.00, and a second huge one for $6.00!

What does one do with all the thrift treasures..is it out with the old and in with the older?? Your cottage will be bursting at the seams soon. You just keep finding more little teasers at the thrift stores!hugs NG

Kim, you did gooooood! :) I'm glad that you found some more creamy serveware...you have a beautiful collection. That tablecloth is a pretty color, and I love ball fringe...I think it's fun. I wish that our goodwill had the selection that yours does. Maybe I just don't get to "haunt" mine enough, with working. But, after the kiddos get out of college, look out! ;)
I always enjoy seeing your treasures!

There certainly are treasures out there to be found but probably not such bargains as you have managed to snap up certainly not in the UK anyway.
Posted by: carolyn | June 01, 2007 at 01:19 PM
$6.....are you kidding me! I need to come visit your Goodwill. I occasionally find some good things but they are always pricey!!
Have a lovely weekend.

I love thrifting as well and I went this afternoon. I picked up a cache of my own. I always say, when you're looking for something in particular, you will almost always find it in a thrift store. You just have to keep going back.
I don't know how I found your blog but I've been visiting it regularly ever since I did. Thank you for sharing your home, your family and your ideas.

You do find the most wonderful things. And of course you enticed me to go a few times to my Goodwill, but there is nothing like that and certainly not for the price.
So you keep shoppping and so we can all pay you to shop for us soon!

Wow! what wonderful finds, I am an avid fan of thrifting too. It is 'yard sale' season here in Nova Scotia, so every Saturday I get up with the birds, put on my comfy shoes and go prepared with plenty of small change!
