Old Green And Blue

Ahhh, look at these cute salt & pepper shakers that I found at an estate sale, along with this old McCall's cookbook! Don't you love the patina of these? I just love the old greens and blues! One of the many reasons why I prefer vintagy things is that their colors are so pretty and age only makes the hues more charming. At this particular estate sale, there was a closet packed full of linens AND wonderful old aprons! They are in the wash now, getting a good soaking, and I will share pictures of those tomorrow!

    

Tortellini Salad

My mother and father-in-law are coming for a weekend visit and I thought this Herb Chicken Tortellini Salad would be nice to have. I've made this before and I think it is really delicious. You can find the recipe here although I changed things up a bit. I use black olives and only a 1/2 cup of Caesar salad dressing. I also don't use the whole bag of spinach.. I just tear up little pieces of it and add to taste. If you do make this, definitely use freshly grated parmesan cheese as it makes all the difference in the world!

 

This salad is wonderful with a loaf of fresh bread and a glass of wine. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and get the chance to spend it with your loved ones too!

My Ginger Apron

Thank you all for your kind well wishes about my little cold ~ your sweet suggestions helped alot too! I am feeling much better now and only have those annoying kind of sniffles that tend to linger for days afterward. I hope that those of you who are also feeling under the weather start to feel sunny again too ((hugs)) I wanted to share a couple of new treasures with you.... first, a wonderful decorating friend of mine, Ginger of Georgia, found this ADORABLE apron for me!  Wasn't that so sweet of her? I hope my pictures do this precious apron justice. I SOOOO love it! The pattern and colors are Daisy Cottage-perfect and I am going to keep my Ginger-apron always and forever.... Thank you Ginger!

   

I also picked up a couple of vintage wooden kitchen utensils from an antique store downtown. This particular booth was having a sale so I got both of these for the grand total of $4. Of course I think they are extra neat because they are red!!

   

Monday Morning Color

Remember these? I think I may have mentioned once or twice that NOTHING stays in the same place around here for very long! ;-) I did a little bit of spring cleaning yesterday in the living room, although I've come down with a bad cold and kind of struggled to keep going. Our very hairy dog, Marley, has pretty much ruined the yellow slipcover that was on our loveseat and I never did like how you seemed to "walk into" it as soon as you came through the front door. So I've moved it out and will just have two wingback chairs and the wicker rocker in here for now. You know how one thing leads to another, so the removal of the loveseat then caused the bumping of the green cottagy table to our family room and now the family room's round table is front and center in the living room. Confused yet? Can you imagine how my poor husband must feel every time he comes home from a fishing trip?  He never knows where to "hang his hat"!! I gathered together some of my books for the table as this is always a wonderful, inexpensive way to accessorize a room with color AND it is nice to have a good read stacked nearby. I hope you are enjoying a little color this Monday morning too!

   

Old Train Case

 

Old suitcases are one of my favorite things to use and scatter about Daisy Cottage. They are wonderful simply stacked in a corner AND for holding all sorts of items, such as magazines and books or rolled up bath towels! It is fun to stand pretty dishes in these too. The ideas are endless for these vintage treasures! Here is one of mine that I keep on my bedside table. I change up what is in here all the time, of course, but for now, my Edgar Guest poetry book, along with another old book that I love and my special valentine from Maggie are enjoying their turn in the train case.
