I hope the early days of the new year have been restful ones for you after the hurry and scurry of the Christmas season. I know that it was really nice to have a few lazy mornings to just putter about in my pajamas, appreciating Daisy Cottage in its' fresh state of order now that the Christmas "pretties" have been packed away. I wasn't really ready to say goodbye to the holidays. Some years I am MORE than ready ~ eager to have things "back to normal", but not this time. But, seeing as how this is January 4th, it is time to embrace the new and not look back right? I thought I'd share these simple and sweet thrift finds for my first post of the new year. I love my bold colors, of course, but I also am drawn to the soft and faded. I find that when I am thrifting, I tend to be in "color moods" that outing. I will zoom in on things in those colors and a vignette of sort will be born in my cart. I bring them home and enjoy my finds either together or separately ~ it doesn't matter. For example, here is what I brought home one day from a visit to the thrift store. A lovely old floral pillowcase, a china teacup, and a few potholders. Don't you love them together? Can you see them used in all new sorts of ways? The total sum for these shabby goodies was about $4. This is why I love thrifting ~ for $4 I will enjoy each of these over and over again ~ simply because they are sweet.
What lovely finds! Enjoy

Kim, I came here to see if you'd added any posts for the new year, and you didn't disappoint! I love the pillowcase, teacup and potholders. It's amazing how you can take ordinary items and put them together in such a beautiful way. Happy New Year to you!

Very pretty finds! I also love thrifting, there is something so rewarding about rescuing a beautiful something and reusing it, re-loving it. It makes me feel so good (and it's super cheap, which is nice too!)

Wonderful finds! I have found quite a few of those old pillowcases as well. I picked up a few in a brown and white floral the other day. That old percale is sooo soft especially the ones Fieldcrest use to make. What room will the treasures live in? Oh and Kim what type of camara did your dh get you? I need a new one. Thanks, cherry

I'm a bit of a hedonistic, loving pleasure for pleasure's sake, because it delights the eye, the soul, lighting a spark of joy. Your wonderful finds and the photo of them lights that spark of joy in my spirit. I don't care if you "use" them, really; their use, for me, has already been fulfilled ... they've provided me with simple, pure pleasure, just as they are.
