Cheap Curtains

I have a confession ~ I detest shopping at Walmart. I really do. I am a Target girl. I ONLY enter Walmart as a LAST resort. I also exit as quickly as I can. If you want to see me walk fast ~ witness how fast I walk through a Walmart. Well, the other day I finally had had enough of our dining room windows being bare so I thought I'd try to find some simple cafe curtains to hang on tension rods. Trying to find those in my town turned out to be a frustrating experience! The FEW that I did find had tabs which I wasn't wanting or they were way too long or short. None of this would be a problem for you seamstresses out there ~ alas, I am SO not one of you. And, of course, once something gets in my head, I don't have the patience to just wait and search for the perfect curtains. Nope, have to have them NOW! It doesn't matter that the windows have been undressed for over a year ~ NOW apparently is the time for them to have some attention! That is why, I bit the bullet and went inside the awful place known as Walmart. I walked ALL the way to the back of the store and actually found a few possibilities. I guess this is one of the many reasons Walmart is so successful! They actually have selections! Upon closer consideration though, I just wasn't warming up to any of them. UNTIL, I examined one out of the package and thought about using it upside down. Yes! I think I would like the ruffle at the bottom, instead of at the top! And only $6 a pair too! Sold! Soooooooo ~ my cheap little curtains are hanging upside down and I think that they are pretty cute.  And from Walmart too!   ;-)

Recipe For You

Many of you sweeties requested the Banana Pudding recipe so I will share that sweetie with you! Some of the best recipes can be found on the back of boxes... this one is a keeper. It will definitely be going in here.  If you make it, let me know if you enjoyed it too! xo, Kim

Red Mirrors

I acquired several old gold plastic framed mirrors over the past year.  I never spent more than a couple of dollars on each one. They have been hanging out in different spots and in several rooms. I had the idea of spray painting them bright red and displaying them together above our cabinet in the dining room. I'll add more mirrors to fill in this area as I find them, but now that they are all decked out in their new shade of red I do think they are looking right at home. 

Banana Pudding

My daughter mentioned to me the other day that her favorite dessert in the world was banana pudding. This was somewhat newsworthy to me as I did not know this after almost 18 years of being her mother! With this new discovery in my head, I went to the grocery store and got some bananas and vanilla wafers. I had the rest of the ingredients already. It just came out of the oven. I hope it turned out okay. Can you believe that this is my first time EVER to make banana pudding?? Yes one of my many little New Year's resolutions was to spend more time in the kitchen.  ;-)

I was tagged by Jane yesterday to play this game. It is a good thing that I like Jane and adore her blog. Now I won't have to kill her!  ;-)  The hard part for me in listing weird things about myself, is that I only need to pick six. I think it would be pretty easy for me to list more than that! So, here are mine ~

1. When I sit in a room that I am visiting, like a restaurant or meeting room, I HAVE to sit facing the entrance/front of the room. I just can't stand having my back to it.

2. I abhor pears. I say that I am allergic to them, but actually I just plain hate them. Ever since I was a little girl, I hated the taste, the texture, everything about the poor, innocent pear.

3. I am scared to death to drive on the interstate now. I used to be an awesome driver and drove anywhere I wanted on any road. I had an incident when I almost fainted on 1-275 in Tampa due to being sick and not knowing it and I barely got off of the expressway in time. Ever since then, it is in my head that I CAN'T drive on those kind of roads without fainting. If I try, I start to feel like I am going to have a full blown panic attack.  I'll drive anywhere, as long as it is a normal road or a back road. No interstates or expressways for me.

4. I won't step on any cracks on sidewalks.

5. I have to have an aisle seat in the movie theatre.

6 .And I don't know if this could be classified as weird, although I know he is perceived as such, but I will admit this very surprising fact about me, I am a Prince fan.
