Meet Ethel. She arrived here at Daisy Cottage a couple of days ago. She is very very very very very old. Like 30 years old! We are giving our daughter my white VW bug since her Honda was totaled in her accident and she will be going off to college soon and needing a car. I have always wanted a really old Mercedes ~ although I am going to refer to Ethel as "vintage", not old because I don't want to insult her ~ and when I saw a picture of this one that my husband found on Ebay, I thought ~ well, PERFECT! I mean she's yellow and everything! And quirky! I love the headlights...
and the head rests are just TOO CUTE....
and the dash is darling ~ love the "retro feel" ~ she just needs some new mats...
and I fell in love with the hubcaps ~
Yep, I think Ethel and I are going to have some fun times. I used to have Lucy, a white wagon that gave us some wonderful memories, so I am very happy to have her friend Ethel to take me wherever the road goes now!!
you have been tagged (sorry if this is a duplicate)...just go to my blog for the rules.

I love vintage autos! Well, vintage anything! I hope one day to own a vintage truck...but for now, Annie and I toodle around town happy as larks. Annie is a White (my favorite color) Suburban. Once in a while she tows Lula, our vintage trailer. Enjoy Ethel!

I don't know how you could give up your Beetle-I drive one and I love her. But that is a pretty special car. Love those hubcaps!

I know Chris, I guess I'm okay because I'm giving it to my daugher! BUT, if I ever buy a new car again, it will be a RED Beetle convertible! ;-)

Kim, Ethel is a lovely name for an elegant vintage lady. She looks to be in very good condition, I am very happy for you. I have always thought I would one day like a vintage luxury sedan. Cindy

Ooh, what a beauty! You're going to have some great drives in her! Great to hear you had a Beetle - these cars do really go with the whole love of vintage don't they?

Love, love, love her! I have always wanted a vintage Mercedes - they are fabulous. Lucky you! BTW, Victorian Trading has some great "shabby" car mats that you might like...

Those "vintage" Mercedes are REALLY solid cars. I love how Ethel matches your home!

Oh my goodness! She is just perfect! Have fun in her. Do you have a purty scarf to wrap around your head and glamour girl sunglasses to wear when yo are cruising town with the windows down? If you don't you gotta!

Ethel is looking very good for a vintage gal! That is just the cutest car and really looks perfect in her new cottage setting.
It is amazing how good the inside of that car looks. Someone did a grea job with it.
I bet you look pretty darn cute driving it, too!

Ethel is a very classy lady!
I can so relate to this post. My car isn't as fancy as a Mercedes but it's an old 1978 Volvo station wagon. It's blue, my favorite color and feels like a dear friend. All of my friends joked about me buying a Volvo station wagon when I first bought it in 1988, but now they either think it's pretty cool or baffled by why I'm still driving it. Lately teenage boys and young men stop to talk to me about my car. One patted it fondly and called it "Ol' Blue and another told me he'd just bought one like it and went on and on about how cool it is. So funny! A friend sent me an article from hmmm, I think it was the Wash. Post in which they showed a photo of a car that looked just like mine and wrote about how it's considered to be desirable these days. Who would've thought! LOL!
I love the feel and the quality of older cars. Nothing today compares.

Love your old car! I have named every car I have owned. I presently have two red cars - the small one is Little Red and the truck is Big Red (she pulls our fifth wheel). In between is parked "Sunshine" - she is a 1972 VW Beetle. Our first new car was a 1967 red VW - love those VWs. LOL Ethel is an appropriate name and she looks great parked next to "Daisy".

Oh Kim....SHE'S YOU!!!!! Love the car, love the name. I didn't think you would ever give up Pearl, but at least she is still part of the family. My daddy would have flipped over the hubcaps. Good for you. Vicky G.

Oh, Kim! Ethel is beautiful...and how ironic, my aunt & uncle (they live near Brandon) had a twinkie of Ethel back in the 80's (theirs was probably 10 years old at the time!), same color, same look and all. They drove that car til it died & loved it to pieces, so I'm sure yours will go and go...looks to be in great shape. I've always admired those old Mercedes too...and have secretly coveted a 450SL forever...red! LOL Have fun with your new girlfriend..and yes, she will be fun to go thrifting and yardsaling in...those big backseats come in handy! :)

Oh that I would age as gracefully as Ethel! The hubcaps are the icing on the cake. Enjoy! Let's see, I have a blue Explorer who has a twin on every corner. What should I name it? Ditto?
