Lena's Butterflies

On Monday, Ethel and I picked up my mother and we went shopping. Now that's a real treat to do on a Monday! We visited the make-up counter, stopped in Coldwater Creek, and had fun looking at some purses in a local boutique.  I wore my cropped jeans' jacket with a gold flower pin that, of course, had been purchased from a thrift shop. Mom really liked the pin on the jacket. She isn't a "pin girl" herself, BUT she did remember that she had these adorable blue butterfly pins that belonged to her mother, Lena. After we finished our wonderful and leisurely lunch, we went back to Mom's house and she gave me the pins. I WISH you could see them in person ~ the color is so intense and just a beautiful shade of blue. I KNEW as soon as I saw them, that I had to share them with you. A little Monday surprise for me ~ Lena's pretty blue butterflies! Aren't I lucky? I can't wait to wear them! Thanks Mom!

 

Tattered and Torn

But, oh so incredibly LOVED! I thought I'd share some more pictures of this old quilt that I got from Goodwill a little over a year ago. You can see it here on our back porch. I think the combination of fabric selections that the creator of this gem made are simply charming. I could get lost in the sweet patterns all day. How did this precious token of love and patience ever leave its' family?  Although it is quite tattered and torn, at least this lovey is back in a home, where it belongs, safe and sound. 

     

Vintage Jewelry Fun

Aren't these cute? I bought the little orange and white flower earrings earlier this week  and then picked up this old yellow beaded bracelet yesterday at a yard sale. Total cost for both pieces - $2!  I don't know if it is a "stage" that I am in, but I seem to prefer wearing funky, older jewelry now instead of my traditional, really nice pieces. Of course I treasure those and they mean the world to me, BUT it sure is fun to wear these sweet and funky finds. I enjoyed wearing the yellow bracelet last night when I met up with some girlfriends for dinner and a movie.  Another neat thing about wearing vintage jewelry, is that you probably won't see anyone wearing the same piece!  ;-) Oh and if you haven't seen the movie, "The Holiday", you must! Not only is it a cute movie, it is great eye candy too!   

My Friend Fifi

Back in September my home was photographed for "Cottage Style" magazine. It was absolutely, without a doubt, a WONDERFUL and memorable day in my life. One of the reasons why, was that I met Fifi, the adorable French stylist for the shoot. She was so kind and made me feel right at ease. It was like spending the day with a long-time friend. Her gifts to me of encouragment, inspiration, and hope, are gifts that will last my lifetime. I will always, always, be grateful. Thank you Fifi from the bottom of my heart!

When she was here to style my home, she noticed my two letter "K"s hanging on my living room wall and I mentioned to her that I was searching for a small "&" to go in the middle. I was so delighted the other day when a perfect "&" arrived in the mail! How sweet! Now my "K & K" which represents "Kevin and Kim" is complete. I just love it!

Fifi's OWN adorable cottage is featured in this beautiful magazine, "Romantic Living". Please treat yourself and pick up a copy to enjoy over your cup of tea! You will be so very glad that you did. It is pure eye candy as her pink cottage is just enchanting. I am very happy to share my special friend Fifi with you!

Late Sun

I love watching the late afternoon sun light up Daisy Cottage. Just like the morning light, this is so pretty and welcomed. It changes the hues, brings play and friendliness to corners and radiates gentle warmth throughout before it disappears for the night. Just a beautiful thing, day in and day out, the sunshine in our lives.
