This yummy Chocolate Chip cake JUST came out of the oven! It is the easiest cake in the world to make. It doesn't require a rolling pin, but it sure looks nice beside one! ;-) I did, however, wear this apron. I love love wearing aprons while working in the kitchen. It makes me feel like I actually know what I'm doing! We are going to my sister's house for New Year's Eve and I'm also making a crab dip and artichoke dip to bring for the festivities. It is going to be a nice time. I can't wait to bring this cake in my new-to-me cake dish. I still can't believe that we are saying goodbye to 2006 and hello to 2007! One of my many blessings this past year was finding YOU... my blogging friends. I treasure ALL of you ~ the old and the new ~ my friends in "real life" and my friends out there in this world who I haven't met in "person" but feel that I have always known! Kindred souls, I'd say! Have a safe and wonderful New Year and may you have many many blessings ahead! xo, Kim

Omigosh! I come to your site and find myself face-to-face with this delicious-looking chocolate chip cake. Looks fabulous and easy, Kim!
I don't cook, so I don't wear aprons, but I love them and what they represent to me: taking time to prepare a meal with love and care, slowing down to enjoy the act of preparation, infusing the food with the love of the cook. Happy New Year and abundant blessings to you, Kim! You are always a bright spot in my day!

The cake looks yummy and the rolling pins/apron brings back neat memories. I like your storage idea of placing rolling pins in an urn. So glad I found your blog - you always make me smile and my heart sing. Happy New Year!

Can you bring some over to my house?:) I've been craving something chocolately all day! I will have to try the recipe. I love your new cake plate, you can never have too many in my opinion, aprons too, never too many of those. Funny how so many people love aprons, wonder what it is about them.
Thank you for your wonderful blog and inspiration. May you have a very wonderful New Year too!!

Do you still have the pics of your former home anywhere where a person could see them? I love the pic of your black bookcase that you built, I need something like that. Thanks Kim, love your pic of the choco cake!

That is the EXACT cake my mom made for all of our birthdays growing up.
And when she served it she would put a little glass jar filled with flowers in the center. She also usually served it with whipped cream...yum.

So glad I stopped by with my latte this morning. I always enjoy my visits here, and today is no exception. I can feel my waistline expanding just looking at that yummy cake! I too collect aprons. Just this past Thanksgiving, a dinner guest surprised me with my new favorite- a leopard print apron! I also have a very large old wood rolling pin of my Mom's that I treasure, and can't imagine baking a pie without it!
Happy New Year to you Kim! Thanks for all the eye-candy and thoughtful prose you share with us all year.

Oh, Divine! That's just what I need *right* now...(this coming from a girl that put a scoop of icecream in her cup of icecream this morning, LOL!)
It's so pretty, Kim!

I am sitting her waiting for your page to load and thinking how nice a chocolate bar would be. And POW, my vision is slammed by chocolate goodness. I literally jumped in anticipation of the first bite. And then my brain started working and I realized it was only a picture.

I use a recipe almost exactly like that! It's a family favorite. The cake is good in lemon, too - just use lemon cake mix and pudding in place of chocolate and add lemon zest instead of chocolate chips. It's very good!

Kim, I baked your Chocolate Chip cake for my photo shoot tomorrow! I'm going to put it on my favorite creamware platter that says, Pure Butter. It has a huge glass dome that sits over it...I'm going to sprinkle the powdered sugar on it just before they come so it will be pretty and white...Thanks for the recipe, it was so easy! I love that!
