To those of you who are having some difficulties, or are in emotional or physical pain, or perhaps on the mend but are just needing a friend .... PLEASE know that I always keep you in my heart and that all of us here CARE and love you. You are not alone. We gift each other with our loving presence in the way that we can in this life. Our thoughts and prayers ripple into the universe to the one and ones intended for. It is such a beautiful thing.
And sometimes we just need to be quiet and sometimes we just need to be loud. Sometimes we just need to fill our minds with what we see and then our hearts fill accordingly. The imagery in our life is so important. I know that it helps me - what I choose to focus on and seek. Whether it be family, friends, nature, or all the little things that I love in my home, I have to focus on what makes my spirit happy or at peace. It is not that we should shield ourselves from the harsh realities of life and live in a cloud but we have to really try to balance the bad and seek the good, whatever that may be for us, as much as we possibly can.
We have to keep finding the light that lifts. Does that make sense? Whether it be our child's face; our dog's eyes; our garden's rose; our love's embrace; our friend's voice - whatever lifts us we must seek.
I am finishing up some recent photo shoots and loving every minute of working on them, while doing some decking of Dear Daisy Cottage's halls - including the dollhouse. I painted Santa for a very special someone to have one day when she has her own Summie home. I have finished mailing out Etsy Christmas orders and now I think I need to focus on Christmas shopping as I have yet to begin - other than something for Summer Lynn. It will get done - it always does, right? Right! I hope you have been having a wonderful week! Is it cold where you are? Still waiting on that here. BUT the Florida December light has been magical!
I had the family over on Sunday and made lasagna in my new yellow covered dish that I got for Mother's Day. If I do say so myself - which to be fair they all kindly said the same - it came out wonderful! And I credit the pan, dish, whatever it should be called! The lasagna stayed together, if you know what I mean, and the flavors seemed to marry better. So happy with it and now I need to make something else in it. Do you have any suggestions? Pretty please? Summer Lynn, who now calls herself "Summie" was my assistant. Can you believe I have been cooking in Daisy Cottage's kitchen for almost 10 years now? And to have her here with me, helping me when she visits is so precious to me! Happy moments for sure. I made a simple salad to go with the lasagna - spinach, red onion, roasted walnuts, blue cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette for the dressing. Delicious! Along with the garlic bread, it was a good meal and a good time. I know you know what I mean..... when everybody is together and all is nice. Sigh. I don't take those moments for granted either. Never have. Never will.
I have painted a few more paintings for the dollhouse and of course the house needed one of a swan! ;-) This little painting thing is really really fun! I have never allowed myself to try it other than painting furniture since early elementary school days when an art teacher told me that I was "doing it wrong" and crushed my little inner artist spirit. I painted one that is a little bit bigger for Shawn who loves the water so much ...
He loved it. :-)
So it has been some domestic AND artistic days of late and I love the combination. Now to keep on keepin' on............
I've been busy painting tiny oil paintings and flower pots for the dollhouse. This has been so much fun! I got a package of wooden rectangles and a package of wooden flower pots at Hobby Lobby and used the acrylic paint that I already had. Next time I go back I need to get some yellow though - but of course! :-)
I hope you have had a wonderful week. It is really hot and muggy here so it is a great time for indoor projects and dollhouse play.
Now if only painting a life-sized house was so easy, right?
