Yellow Rolling Pin

I'd like to introduce you to my yellow rolling pin - I found it in a little shop in Tennessee.  I have other rolling pins that I have collected over the years, but I didn't have a YELLOW one.

And, of course, Daisy Cottage should have a yellow one, right?

I must admit, (and I'm sure that I already have) I am very much a visual person - meaning, that although I agree it is nice to actually know the history about something, I don't really need to know the facts to fall in love - and I also admit that I certainly won't remember them....

BUT, I will remember where I found it and I will always think of the ones who loved it before me.

Yes, all I really needed to know is this rolling pin, with its' chippy yellow paint, wanted to come down from the store's cold metal shelf and come home to Florida with me. Really. Truly.

Time in Tennessee Part III and Home Again

So we shopped.....

And we ate... (boy, did we EAT!)

And we drank in the amazing landscape...

And tried SO hard to memorize all of the beauty so that we could bring some of that old mountain magic home with us...

Because, alas, it WAS time to say goodbye to this heavenly place and go home.

And after leaving the sweet state of Tennessee far behind in our rear view mirror, and with our happy memories safely tucked away, my husband and I arrived here - safe and sound...

And Dorothy's words echoed in my heart - because no matter what we do or where we may roam....

               "There's no place like home"

   

Time in Tennessee - Part II

Now that we've cooled off in the mountains, let's take a little stroll through Gatlinburg, Tennessee.....

So much to see and do - especially for families with children. :-) 

Now we will drive over to the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community and see what we can find...

Time in Tennessee

My brother and sister-in-law have a vacation cabin in the woods of Tennessee - and my husband and I had a wonderful time staying with them and their two little girls. My sister and her husband, along with their daughter and her best friend, made the trip too......

After getting settled in and spending some time unwinding on the swing, we headed for the The Great Smoky Mountains National Park...

If you have visited these mountains before, then you know that they are heavenly.  If you HAVEN'T visited these mountains before, then take a peek with me because you know that I brought you along with me too.  ;-)

My niece, the budding photographer - captured the beauty with HER eyes...

We decided to hit the trails.....and there were many!

And, of course, we stopped to smell the mountain flowers...

We skipped a few stones and climbed a few rocks....

And happily rested on one... enjoying the moment.

Sigh. It was a BEAUTIFUL first day in Tennessee....

I Spy Something Yellow

Well, actually, my daughter spied something yellow while shopping in our Goodwill. I'm telling you she is getting GOOD...really good at this thrifting thing. Makes me soooooooooooooooooo proud!  ;-)

While dear hubby cooks up something really good for me....

And while he grills, I happily sit and enjoy the summer eve...

Feeling thankful that our little backyard has finally bloomed a personality...

Ahh yes - I sit and sip, and sit and sip, and then I begin to ponder something VERY VERY important...

What else can I spray paint in a fun and happy color????

Wipe Your Feet

Wipe your feet please on our little daisy rug! 

I haven't been to Pier 1 in ages, but when I saw this I had to splurge and treat Daisy Cottage to a new rug - she deserves it, right?  ;-)

No Laundry Room

Our last home had an indoor laundry room that we had recently remodeled before the house went up for sale. I wish I had pictures of it to share with you, because it DID turn out really cute and somehow laundry didn't seem as much of a chore once the room was given new life with fresh cabinets, flooring, and, of course, some whimsical touches.

Daisy Cottage does NOT have a laundry room. The washer and dryer are on the back porch, behind closet doors. When we bought THIS house, I thought for sure that I was going to be unhappy with the layout and I told my husband about my grand plans for enclosing the porch and creating a REAL laundry room - you know, the kind with walls, windows, and AIR CONDITIONING!

BUT I soon realized that I was able to do this....

I could hang clothes from a pretty chandelier.. I could hear birds sing while sorting whites from darks... I could listen to the wind whisper around the corner... I could breathe.

Walls?  Windows?  Air conditioning?

Silly, silly me.

Our laundry "room" is perfect. 

The way it is.

The way it was meant to be.
