I'm celebrating! Will you please join me?

Img_0485_medium

Why are we having a party? Well - it was my birthday on Saturday and my sweet hubby painted our table and chairs for me! And, of course, I couldn't wait to share the color with YOU that I FINALLY decided on....

Img_0528_medium

Blue! I hope you like it!!! I'll still continue to play, will add cushions and flowers - fun and happy layers - as I find them and the mood strikes.....

I'm also CELEBRATING because of this......

You all KNOW how I feel about Fifi and she has done it again! This brand new issue of Romantic Country is absolutely GORGEOUS! And I am once again, so honored, thrilled, and very VERY appreciative that I had the wonderful opportunity to write this....

Img_0541_medium

I wrote about a VERY gifted artist, Cindy Ellis, who has created a beautiful and romantic home. You will love the tour and you'll also love the fabulous feature about our very own "Miss Shabby FuFu"! You are going to LOVE IT ALL!  :-)  Thank you Cindy for being such a special person to work with AND thank you Fifi for all that you are, and all that you do, AND FOR MAKING THIS GIRL'S DREAMS COME TRUE.

Now, I never party alone, SO I have THREE Romantic Country issues to give away and three little birdies too...

Img_0551_medium

If you would like the chance to win a copy of the magazine AND a sweet bird, please leave a comment and I'll pick three names on Friday. Happily, you can now order a subscription to Romantic Country, and I hope that you treat yourself to one too!! You deserve it!

Have a wonderful week - thank you, as always, for being THE SWEETEST souls on earth and for your amazing and generous support of me and Daisy Cottage. I hope you know HOW MUCH I appreciate and love each of you. Always and forever ~~~~

Kim

Saturday Thoughts

Img_0376_medium

It's Saturday and tomorrow is Father's Day. We'll be honoring Mr. Daisy Cottage with lots of attention, maybe a gift or two, and his favorite meal. What a wonderful father he has been! Our children are very, very lucky.

Img_0370_medium

And of course, I'll be thinking of my own father (I was born on Father's Day - it was on the 21st that year) and knowing, that even though it has been 24 years since he passed away, he's always here.

Even if I can't "see" him - I know. He's here, in my heart..

Every day.

I hope you and yours have a WONDERFUL Father's Day!

Love,

Kim

Three Special Sisters

Img_0046_medium

Three very special sisters visited Daisy Cottage today.

Ann, Joan, and Kay...

Img_0035_medium

They are the nieces of John and Zoe - Daisy Cottage's very first family who called this house their home in 1922.

I had met Kay and Joan on the home tour back in March, when they stopped in and sweetly introduced themselves to me. I was thrilled to meet them and invited them to come back and visit us anytime. They shared my email and blog link with their sister, Ann, who lives out of state, and we have written each other a few times. Ann is in town and she called me yesterday afternoon to arrange a time for the three sisters to come over for a visit. And that visit was this morning....

Img_0028_medium

Three beautiful ladies showed up on our porch... charming, gracious, and soooooooooo appreciative to have the chance to see their Uncle John and Aunt Zoe's home again. Ann hadn't been here since 1960.

I was so touched as their eyes lit up with memories of their youth as they generously shared about their family with me. I especially loved hearing about Zoe - as you know, I've often wondered about her and what she must have been like... and I was so happy to hear that she LOVED her home.  The sisters shared that Zoe was a dark-haired beauty, who was a wonderful homemaker and always wore pretty dresses. She was a true lady. The sisters adored their Uncle John - he was tall and lanky and full of life. He loved to garden and gave each of the girls a quarter whenever they came to visit.

Img_0047_medium

Ann, Joan, and Kay, shared lots of little things too - like where John and Zoe put the Christmas tree and explained where some doors used to be that are not here now... and it was just a beautiful, beautiful morning - and I am so thankful that they took the time to visit with me.

Img_0040_medium

As they were leaving, we did not say goodbye. They can come visit their home whenever they like. For indeed, it IS their home too - their family lived here and loved each other here. This home-sweet-home will always be a part of them. Thank you dear sisters for being absolute SWEETHEARTS. You are each special, indeed. And as Zoe happily did - I love "OUR" home too.

We'll take good care of her.  Promise.

Love,

Kim

Mirror Mirror

Img_0015_medium

Thank you, THANK YOU! Oh I am loving all of your color suggestions for the table and chairs! I haven't decided yet, but will soon, and when they are freshly painted, I will share their new look with you. Promise!  psst..I am leaning towards blue

I know that I've shared these mirrors in our stairwell before, but now I've painted the silver and gold ones white, and I thought I would share them again. I was VERY lazy and didn't tape off the mirrors.. just quickly brushed on flat, latex wall paint, and rehung them in different spots.

Img_0005_medium

Some were painted all the way.. some were lightly brushed..

Img_0007_medium_2

They were hung randomly and without too much attention to spacing..

Img_0010_medium

It was fun giving these Goodwill mirrors a fresh look! And there is always room for more!   ;-)
