Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Hi sweet Kim :)

Your hall bath is so cute! From the flowers lining the ledge to the sweet lamp on that beautiful sink to the sweet shower curtain.... I love every bit of it :)

Have fun this Saturday!

love you and missed you too...

Oh Kim...another happy spot in your Daisy Cottage that just exudes happiness and warmth.

Susan Freeman

Your bathroom is charming! I am glad that you don't follow rules either. Display all of the fake flowers you want. It's your cottage. I promise not to inform the "design police".

Susan and Bentley

Just so you!!

LOVE that sink vanity, it is-to-die-for awesome.

You need never make an apology - ur pix are always great.

How's that new camera workin out for ya? Liking it more and more as you are getting used to it?

Kim everything looks so pretty. Thanks for the off to play too. xoxoxo

Dearest Kim...I love the fact that you use fake flowers!! OUR home is OUR sanctuary...we must surround ourselves with things that make us happy!!...The bathroom is very beautiful! Have a great day! :)

sweet cottage dreams

It is lovely! So fresh and clean! A cheerful place to take a bath - even amongst your "cheap" flowers. :0 At least they will never turn brown on you or require water.

I love it, Kim!

Oh wow, just when I think I've seen the cutest blogs I find yours. Wow! Wow! Wow! That bathroom makes me so happy and jealous at the same time. I love everything about it.

You have a beautiful bathroom and a gorgeous home. You can come to my house anytime and give me advice and help me decorate. I wish I had the decorative knack that you have. I love coming to your Blog to see what you are doing each day. My dream had always been to have a yellow house. Yours makes me happy and makes my day every day and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.
Have a great day.

So very "Kim". Love it!

Once again, you have inspired me, Kim! I was actually online now searching for inspiration for both of my bathrooms (they are feeling like they need a makeover!) I love what you did with everything, including the shower cutrain. Is that one curtain?

Daisy Cottage

Thank you everyone! :-)

Kerri, the shower curtain was made by my sis out of three pieces - the red & white checked fabric was actually a tablecloth - the white ruffly fabric was a shower curtain cut in half - and the daisy fabric was a birthday gift from Lori.

I think flowers and vases all around the top would be charming and a lot of fun to do!! Go for it.

Very cute! So bright and cherry!

Bella StyleBook

Your home must be walking into a sunny garden. All that bright yellow and red. I also love silk flowers and use them quite often in my decorating for the same reason...they don't die. Thanks for sharing yet another part of your sweet, cozy home, Kim.

Hi Kim ! This is the first time I write a comment... .I always look to you with great admiration.... American blogs... another world another stile , something else smart , every time is a surprise !! I love your way of interpreting things and the color combinations: this idea for the bath is truly "delicious", thanks to be constant and accurate, a big hug

Betty Jo

Love your bath Kim, especially the triple shower curtain. Are they sewn together? What a super idea. ♥

That looks like such fun. . . we had one last fall here (WPB) and drank the champagne as we went through each room (hotel). Enjoy! Blessings, Janet

It must be in the bathrooms needed an overhaul recently and now they are fresh and pretty and so nice to visit! I adore the colors you used (SO YOU) in yours and that shower curtain is so unusual. Do people ever come OUT of your bathroom? It's so fun!
Again, thanks for sharing your little slice of heaven.

Fruitful Harvest

What a wonderful bathroom~
In my house....I have 6 kiddos so far....a bathroon so lovely would not stay that way for long!

Oh one day.....

Warm Blessings,

Lee Laurie

I love it! Beautiful! That shower curtain is adorable.

Lee Laurie

Nancy Omachi

I really like the variety of bathroom curtains! So cute! Silk flowers are the only way to go....they can't die!

I just love the 3 different panels for the curtain. What does it look like all open? or closed. lol. mishelle

Very cute and adorable just like you.

Penny @ Lavender Hill Studio & The Comforts of Home

Love your sweet hall bath Kim! The lamp shade is fabulous!

I also loved the article you wrote in the current Romantic Country magazine....just got my copy today. And guess what? I'm in it too :-) 15. Well, not ME but one of my mosaic pieces...

chris mohnasky

Very Adorable, just like the rest of your house. Question - Is there a bath next to those curtains and if so do you use a liner? I've been wanting to change my bathroom but can't find curtains I like. I love the flowers. I would like to see more - what's on the floor and what light fixture do you have above, etc...

Love your bathroom and why not have great taste! I absolutely love your little lamp and I must know where did you find the fabric and shade?

The Lady of the House

Kim! Cute lamp! & I'm so jealous of your gorgeous vanity. Happy Day, The Lady

Esther Sunday

Great idea about the vases, I say go for it! LOVE that lamp!

Hello, i love your bath,it's so cute.I love the vanity and lamp...It's a happy room....Kathy

I want to do a vanity/sink like that in our 3/4 bath. It is the one mainly used by 'company'. Ah well. For now, I can dream and enjoy yours! We have a dark bathroom, too, because of an overhanging porch, not because of a tree, and so I kwym about the lighting. It can be difficult to get "right".

Thanks for sharing!

Oh Kim, I love your hall bathroom. I keep changing mine and still cannot find the look I want for it. It has no windows and there is a dark blue theme in the tiling that I just struggle with endlessly. Now I am feeling like running in there and trying a few more ideas :) You always make me feel so inspired.

Your bathroom is charming Kim!

Kim, that bathroom is GORGEOUS!!! Love, love, love what you have done with the flowers, colors, & just everything! Such a happy little place! :-D

I really love the color in your hall bath! It's beautiful!

Donna at Mourning Dove Cottage

I love that layered shower curtain and that adorable lamp! You always amaze me!

Tracie~My Petite Maison

Your bathroom is so nice and cheerful. Love the shower curtains grouped together that way, so you, so perfect!

Kim, I'm with you in the fake flower department. This summer I bought the most beautiful Hydranger. A muted blue. I loved it so much!!! I hated to think of the blooms drying up or dying so when it was still pretty new I found such pretty silk hydranger flowers in the same blue. I stuck them right in the bush and there they stayed until late November. By then there were only Leaves and the silk flowers left on the bush, and my neighbor said to me "Wow, you really have a green thumb to keep those flowers alive for so long. The silks are in my closet waiting to go back outside this summer.

Lovely!!!! Red and yellow is so cheery!

The Shabby Chic ruffled shower curtain. Oh, how I love thee. I just looked at it today. I had to get a rug and I wanted the one with the crocheted edges, so for now I have a plain curtain. I never thought of layering. Yours looks great.

I hung a chandelier yesterday. I love it.

Your pictures look anything but fuzzy. I like the fun way you are using the flowers and I did not know that fake flowers were against any rules :)

Jennifer @ Fiddle Dee Dee

I love your cheerful and warm bath! It seriously puts me in the mood for spring as it briightens these dreary rain-filled days we have been experiencing lately. I am delighted you shared such a cozy spot of your cottage with us.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Terri Morse

Every I see those beautiful red walls, I get the urge to paint a red room in my house! The color is just breathtaking. I love everything about your bathroom. Definitely go for more flowers. It makes a room feel so alive! Have a great weekend!

Ann at the Handley Bungalow

So cute! Everything in there is adorable. Thanks for sharing and giving me ideas!

I love red and yellow together- EVERY TIME!

A Romantic Porch

Wow! How cute. following rules can be so "uncreative" can't it? I say follow your heart. Obviously alot of others follow your heart too! ;) you're so sweet Kim. xo rachel

The Pleasures of Homemaking

Such a cute bathroom! I love the shower curtain - what a fabulous idea. I think going all the way around with flowers will make this one happy bathroom!

Look how cute your bathroom is! I had forgotten you had said you were doing it over. I love BOTH looks. I'm always a sucker for red. I've managed to bring it in every room in my home accept the master bedroom and bath.

I have had a lovely start to my Saturday catching up on all your posts.

pogonip@meadowsweet cottage

I love every single thing about your bath (including the silk flowers), but your shower curtain may be the cutest thing I've ever seen. Sigh, Daisy Cottage makes my heart sing with your colors and creativity. And now I want to kick Son #2 out of the house so I can re-design "his" bathroom!

Kelly McMaster

Love your cheap flowers--they don't look cheap at ALL!
I adore your shower curtain(s) and I will be stealing your lamp trimming ideas TODAY! I have a blah white lamp with a blah white shade that needs some love! I wouldn't mind "sittin' a spell" in your cute bathroom if ya know what I mean? haha

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

I have nagged you a couple of times to please show us the bath that you recently redecorated. Is this that bath? Lovely! I love what you have done. I bought a silk plant at a store called Tuesday Morning yesterday. You have to touch it to know if it is real or not and even then you are not sure. My home is full of fakes and unsigned paintings.

Daisy Cottage

That's true.. you have - you are right! ;-)

And yes this is that bath.

Thank you so much!!

From the flowers lining the ledge to the sweet lamp on that beautiful sink to the sweet shower curtain.......

I am always amazed at how every room is so sweet and inviting! I just love this! I have an old dressing table that was my folks...I have been tempted to use it for a sink basin....this is so perfect! Was it hard to do????

Love this fabulous room ... especially the different fabrics for the shower curtain ... thanks for the inspiration for my card design.

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
