It has been SO hot here. As a matter of fact, one day last week, my town was THE HOTTEST PLACE IN THE U.S.A.
Can you imagine?
But this morning it was a little tiny bit cooler - and I just know that fall is going to come to Florida! I mean, it IS November!
Hello November. I love you. I love your flowers, your pumpkins, your aroma, your light, and all that you bring. I'm so glad you are here.
I thought I'd embrace November's arrival by cleaning our porch. I haven't been a very good porch mommy lately. Poor porch. At least I have managed to keep the flowers watered (well MOST of them) ...
And my pumpkins are still doing fine, although a few ARE missing.
Hmm - wonder where they could be? Shannon? Would YOU know?
;-)
Of course my two assistants, Maggie and Marley, must always accompany me when I am out front. However one of my assistants knows how to behave and is completely content to sit and enjoy the moment ...
While the other assistant is too busy hunting and rooting around my dead plants - you know the ones that I forgot to water ...
And I have to sweep up her fun ...
It looks like this lizard is having fun too, sunning on our gate ...
And no Maggie hasn't caught one lizard since the last time that I told you she did.
I hope you are having fun welcoming November to your home! Oh and if you have some extra cool weather would you mind bottling it up and sending it my way?
;-)
Love,
Kim

I cleaned my patio for fall yesterday.. I will bottle the cool and wet weather from the west coast for you...take care..

Beautiful colors! Love your Kim Parker dishes and the floor of your porch is pretty terrific too!
We're looking at close to 90 degrees today here in the So Cal foothills and I think I had an out-of-body moment at Michael's yesterday... their display of winter scrapbook papers stopped me in my tracks... winter? is winter coming? I seem to have wrapped my brain around "Christmas" okay, but "winter" really confused me. :)

Your pictures are so wonderful. I wished I could work my camera so well. We are having cold temps here. Alittle too cold for this time of year, but today it is getting warmer and they say the rest of the week will be too.

Sorry about the heat. You'd never know it from your wonderful photos. Here in NC we've had cooler than usual temperatures, making us really feel like fall and I think the leaves are falling faster this year. Your pumpkins look great.

I know it is sooooo hot here in S. FL. I can't stand it, I keep wishing for just a lil cold, pleeese!! We spent the majority of our weekend outside, yuk,it felt like Summer, but I have faith we will get some cooler weather soon. Your porch looks so pretty with all of your pumpkins (;

Hi, Kim! Up here in VA it's been fickle - one day cool and cloudy, the next warmish. Today it was supposed to be in the 50's, but when I went out to get the mail, it sure felt much warmer. (And I didn't do some spray painting of a coffee table 'cause I thought it would be too cool!)
I enjoyed all the pictures, especially the little lizard. We have some that drive our indoor cats crazy.
Hope you cool off.

Your fall porch looks lovely Kim! I have only placed a couple of pumpkins on my porch, because I have been busy as a bee remodeling and painting.
The weather is beautiful here in the NC mountains. In the 60's during the day...beautiful colors in the trees...come visit :-)

I can't even imagine what Fall is like in Florida! Does it get cold? Do the trees lose their leaves? The leaf piles are pretty deep here! Your porch is so warm and inviting. Beautiful picture of Marley, and Maggie looks like she just got caught with her paw in the cookie jar!

It's warm in Northern California too! It's supposed to be 80 degrees today. It's so funny to see all the leaves changing color and falling and have it so warm! I would much rather have this than snow though so I'm not complaining!
Love you pumpkin and gourd display!

Hi Kim, That's why I'm on the East coast. . . we do have some breeze and it keeps us a bit cooler. I think it was 87 yesterday, I can feel the breeze is a tad bit cooler. Northern people haven't realized, all they have to do is turn their fans on, whee, that would feel soo good. Blessings, Janet

Hi Kim,
Your porch looks so pretty with the red table full of pumpkins.
It's really hot here in Southern California too. The nights cool off but the days still require the assistance of the air-conditioner. I'm thinking about cranking it up so that I can light a fire and snuggle in :)

Hello Kim, Maggie and Marley! You can have some extra-cool weather shipped straight from Alberta... if you want. It's been below freezing in the mornings here. But I'm not complaining because the snow we got 2 weeks ago is gone... for now.
Marley is awfully cute. Where did he come from?
Posted by: Rachel | November 02, 2009 at 08:07 PM
I've been missing that warm Florida weather! It's "cold" (47 degrees) here in Alabama with more to come! At least it stopped raining!
Your porch looks lovely. Nice to see Marley being such a good dog! Tell Maggie to keep after those lizards. One of these days she is going to catch one! Wonder what she might do with it? :)
Posted by: kathi | November 02, 2009 at 08:10 PM
Please keep us up on Marley, too. What a beautiful dog. And I love the turk's turban squash, don't you? I wish I could send you some of our cold weather, I know you'd love to have it.

Hi sweet Kim! Ugggh, it's been WAY too hot here in Florida~ I totally agree. I would love to justify buying a pretty new pair of boots that I see in all of the shops right now, but who can think about that when it's in the 80's! Let's hope for relief soon......xoxo, Janet

Hello Sweet Kim~
Aaaaahhh..... your post helped cool me down a bit. Love all the pumpkins and gourds.
Although Ms. Maggie gets a lot of attention around here, and she does deserve it of course, I have a real soft spot for the incredibly handsome Marley. You know we are pushovers for those dashing rescue pups.
Oh how I love November, too. Now let's cool down a little more. :)

I'll trade my weather for yours anyday. I hate cold weather. I do not like being cold, and I live in Tennessee so of course it's not as cold as most places. But it is cold enough for me. I would like about 75 degree weather all the time. enjoy it!

I don't think I've ever noticed the floor on your porch before. How cool is that!
Is it a broken mosaic tile? Did you guys do that? Or did it come as part of the wonder of the Daisy Cottage?
Oh, by the way, here in NW Iowa we're expecting temps in the 70's on Saturday. So excited! :)

I agree that it has been much too hot here in FL! In West Palm the heat has been near record highs and several of my outdoor pumpkins turned to mush. Send Maggie on down and I'll let her loose on the iguanas which have become a real nuisance in my backyard! Waiting patiently for cooler weather....

Thank you for sharing your porch photos...what inspiration for me to go paint something (Anything!) red. :) Love it!

Pretty pictures, as usual. I do admit to a giggle when you said some of your porch pumpkins were missing--because that was what was going through my mind at the very point I was looking at the picture--that pumpkins and those pretty bowls and plates wouldn't have lasted overnight outside in my neck of the woods.
But seriously, your porch and front yard are just an extention of your home: very warm and welcoming!

Hi Kim
Just wanted to let you know the wonderful heart from Fifi was waiting for me when I got home from Texas. It's charming. Thank you so much. I hope you get some cooler weather. We are experiencing one of those perfect fall days here, crisp in the morning, sunny and warm all day, no humidity...perfection!
Thanks again. I love my heart.

Oh Kim, how I wish you could visit my hometown...........all our trees are vibrant orange and red and bright yellow - your colors. : - )
Our temperatures are perfect right now, sunny, blue skies, cool but not cold - but in the evening the smell of the air, a nice fire (outdoors or in) You would love it!
You could be here in 14 hours if you drove! Or 2 hours if you flew! (But you would want to drive in case you find some treasures while stopping!)
I know how you would enjoy all our antique shops and secondhand stores here, too.
I have two extra guest rooms if you and yours would ever want to come to Ohio - you wouldn't be disappointed!
I cannot imagine last week your town was the hottest in the USA - last week I was using a space heater by my feet!!!!

Beautiful photos! I would love to be somewhere warn and sunny. Winter is arriving here, and the weather is in the high 20's, sun shining brightly and not yet a flake of snow... which is very unusual for Anchorage. I am glad that the roads aren't slipper yet, and that there is no ice to speak of. We're losing daylight quite fast now, and it gets light about 9am, dark again at 5pm. A good layer of snow really brightens everything up, and at night the moon just makes everything glow and sparkle. It's really beautiful!
