Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

WOWZER! I can't believe it's November already. Where does the time go? Sorry to hear that your weather is a tad warm! I'm a cool weather kinda gal. We're in the 60's this week ...I'm ready for sitting by the fireplace and reading a good book all cozy and comfy!

Your pictures always make me so happy:)

Tracy @ Comfort and Luxury

Beautiful colors! Love your Kim Parker dishes and the floor of your porch is pretty terrific too!
We're looking at close to 90 degrees today here in the So Cal foothills and I think I had an out-of-body moment at Michael's yesterday... their display of winter scrapbook papers stopped me in my tracks... winter? is winter coming? I seem to have wrapped my brain around "Christmas" okay, but "winter" really confused me. :)

Willow

Your pictures are so wonderful. I wished I could work my camera so well. We are having cold temps here. Alittle too cold for this time of year, but today it is getting warmer and they say the rest of the week will be too.

Willow

dotsie

Sorry about the heat. You'd never know it from your wonderful photos. Here in NC we've had cooler than usual temperatures, making us really feel like fall and I think the leaves are falling faster this year. Your pumpkins look great.

Kelly~Rose Vine Cottage

I know it is sooooo hot here in S. FL. I can't stand it, I keep wishing for just a lil cold, pleeese!! We spent the majority of our weekend outside, yuk,it felt like Summer, but I have faith we will get some cooler weather soon. Your porch looks so pretty with all of your pumpkins (;
Hugs~Kelly

Erin

Oh, I love Maggie and Marley. So sweet!! You have some good helpers.

Mary Lou

Hi, Kim! Up here in VA it's been fickle - one day cool and cloudy, the next warmish. Today it was supposed to be in the 50's, but when I went out to get the mail, it sure felt much warmer. (And I didn't do some spray painting of a coffee table 'cause I thought it would be too cool!)
I enjoyed all the pictures, especially the little lizard. We have some that drive our indoor cats crazy.
Hope you cool off.
XO

Penny @ Lavender Hill Studio & The Comforts of Home

Your fall porch looks lovely Kim! I have only placed a couple of pumpkins on my porch, because I have been busy as a bee remodeling and painting.

The weather is beautiful here in the NC mountains. In the 60's during the day...beautiful colors in the trees...come visit :-)

Pat@Back Porch Musings

That's how I titled my first of November post, Kim. Great minds!:-)

Your November porch looks great.

We are having lots of sunshine after an October of rain rain rain! Loving it!

Carol @ Old Glory Cottage

I can't even imagine what Fall is like in Florida! Does it get cold? Do the trees lose their leaves? The leaf piles are pretty deep here! Your porch is so warm and inviting. Beautiful picture of Marley, and Maggie looks like she just got caught with her paw in the cookie jar!

Cindy~My Romantic Home

It's warm in Northern California too! It's supposed to be 80 degrees today. It's so funny to see all the leaves changing color and falling and have it so warm! I would much rather have this than snow though so I'm not complaining!

Love you pumpkin and gourd display!

linda@LimeintheCoconut

I cleaned our pool area last week...and was DYING in the heat. I mean....enough already!

Your porch looks perfect! Great pumpkins!

Julie

Let me tell you how lucky you are to have warm weather. It been so cold here and we already have had three snow storms.
Your porch is lovely and so are your little helpers.

kelly thomas

For being in Florida, you sure know how to bring in November...love the pops of red on your porch and the pumpkins...You're two dogs are not too shabby either.Happy Harvest. kelly(simplyworn.etsy)

cindy

Would you believe it has been 32 deg. F. all day! The coldest day so far this Fall. You have such a nice porch, wish I could come by and sit with you for a spell. But, it would take days just to drive down! So I will be happy with my virtual visit. Hugs, Cindy S.

shawn

Good boy, Marley!

Joni

Your house is just so perfect for fall! I love it all, and that little doxie just is too cute posin' for pictures!

loree

Ha. We need some cool weather too. It's still kind of warm around here.

Brenda@Coffeeteabooksandme

I was visiting my daughter in New England a couple weeks ago and it SNOWED. It looked quite interesting to see the snow falling on all the colored leaves. :)

Wishing you a cool autumn...

Hot in AZ

Hi Kim! Maggie & Marley are so sweet! I love Fall but would you believe that it is 86 degrees in Phoenix today!?! If you get extra cool weather, please send it our way too:) Happy November!

Brenda Kula

Tis a bit cooler here, thankfully! Did you know my baby granddaughter's name is Marley? The dog babies do get up to mischief, don't they? Mine too.
Brenda

Janet@ The Decorating Diaries

I'll trade weather with you! The only flowers left to enjoy are yours. Thanks for sharing them.

Jan

Hi Kim, That's why I'm on the East coast. . . we do have some breeze and it keeps us a bit cooler. I think it was 87 yesterday, I can feel the breeze is a tad bit cooler. Northern people haven't realized, all they have to do is turn their fans on, whee, that would feel soo good. Blessings, Janet

Lori

Hi Kim, thanks for adding me to your blog roll. Your photos are so colorful and uplifting. I think I say that almost everytime I comment you, lol. It is getting cold here in TN at night, just hang in there cool weather will be there before you know it.
Have a great day!
Lori

Dena

Hi Kim,

Your porch looks so pretty with the red table full of pumpkins.
It's really hot here in Southern California too. The nights cool off but the days still require the assistance of the air-conditioner. I'm thinking about cranking it up so that I can light a fire and snuggle in :)
Hugs,
Dena

Susan Ramey Cleveland

Maggie is so pretty, I sometimes forget what a beautiful doggie Marley is too. Hope you get some of our cool fall breezes soon.

Suz

Hello Kim, Marley and Maggie
Your home is so precious. And yes it is time to clean up the porch..always keep it inviting. You lead the way you know...so thanks for showing us how beautiful and welcoming it can still be in November. So glad you are not rushing into December...but savoring everyday for what it is and grateful for it.
See ya,Suz

Rachel

Hello Kim, Maggie and Marley! You can have some extra-cool weather shipped straight from Alberta... if you want. It's been below freezing in the mornings here. But I'm not complaining because the snow we got 2 weeks ago is gone... for now.

Marley is awfully cute. Where did he come from?

kathi

I've been missing that warm Florida weather! It's "cold" (47 degrees) here in Alabama with more to come! At least it stopped raining!
Your porch looks lovely. Nice to see Marley being such a good dog! Tell Maggie to keep after those lizards. One of these days she is going to catch one! Wonder what she might do with it? :)

Diane

Please keep us up on Marley, too. What a beautiful dog. And I love the turk's turban squash, don't you? I wish I could send you some of our cold weather, I know you'd love to have it.

Janet (Shabbyfufu)

Hi sweet Kim! Ugggh, it's been WAY too hot here in Florida~ I totally agree. I would love to justify buying a pretty new pair of boots that I see in all of the shops right now, but who can think about that when it's in the 80's! Let's hope for relief soon......xoxo, Janet

Donna, The Decorated House

Hello Sweet Kim~
Aaaaahhh..... your post helped cool me down a bit. Love all the pumpkins and gourds.

Although Ms. Maggie gets a lot of attention around here, and she does deserve it of course, I have a real soft spot for the incredibly handsome Marley. You know we are pushovers for those dashing rescue pups.

Oh how I love November, too. Now let's cool down a little more. :)
Hugs, Donna

alaurajane

Hi Kim; What great photos of your porch. Love your helpers photos, how cute they are... We are finally getting some cooler days here in Charlotte,, will try and send some to you...
have a great week...

Hugs;
Alaura

Elisa Guthrie

I'll trade my weather for yours anyday. I hate cold weather. I do not like being cold, and I live in Tennessee so of course it's not as cold as most places. But it is cold enough for me. I would like about 75 degree weather all the time. enjoy it!

paintergal

I don't think I've ever noticed the floor on your porch before. How cool is that!
Is it a broken mosaic tile? Did you guys do that? Or did it come as part of the wonder of the Daisy Cottage?
Oh, by the way, here in NW Iowa we're expecting temps in the 70's on Saturday. So excited! :)

Leah

Hi Kim!I'd glady send you some of this damp chilly weather from IN if I thought it would make it warmer here!LOL! Good dog Marley! Maggie...we stil Love you!Leah

Andrea

Love the beautiful pumpkins!
Hope you have a lovely autumn.

Kat

Hi sweet friend! Life is gradually getting back to "normal" for me so I'm hoping to be able to visit more often.

It's always always fun to visit YOU.

Hugs!
Kat

Marie

I just wanted to thank you for adding me to your "blog candy". That's so nice of you!

Your blog brings a bit of sunshine to my day ~ no matter what the weather is outside! Thank you.

Anne

I agree that it has been much too hot here in FL! In West Palm the heat has been near record highs and several of my outdoor pumpkins turned to mush. Send Maggie on down and I'll let her loose on the iguanas which have become a real nuisance in my backyard! Waiting patiently for cooler weather....

Jennifer

Thank you for sharing your porch photos...what inspiration for me to go paint something (Anything!) red. :) Love it!

LadyLauraKay

Pretty pictures, as usual. I do admit to a giggle when you said some of your porch pumpkins were missing--because that was what was going through my mind at the very point I was looking at the picture--that pumpkins and those pretty bowls and plates wouldn't have lasted overnight outside in my neck of the woods.

But seriously, your porch and front yard are just an extention of your home: very warm and welcoming!

Rhondi

Hi Kim
Just wanted to let you know the wonderful heart from Fifi was waiting for me when I got home from Texas. It's charming. Thank you so much. I hope you get some cooler weather. We are experiencing one of those perfect fall days here, crisp in the morning, sunny and warm all day, no humidity...perfection!
Thanks again. I love my heart.
((hugs)) Rhondi

Nancy

I ordered cooler weather for you Kim and it is on its way.
Look at your flowers. They love the heat and are blooming beauties.
Marley is a beauty and Maggie a cutie. Loved your poast today.
Warm days and cool nights in sunny San Tan Valley, AZ,

Oh Kim, how I wish you could visit my hometown...........all our trees are vibrant orange and red and bright yellow - your colors. : - )

Our temperatures are perfect right now, sunny, blue skies, cool but not cold - but in the evening the smell of the air, a nice fire (outdoors or in) You would love it!

You could be here in 14 hours if you drove! Or 2 hours if you flew! (But you would want to drive in case you find some treasures while stopping!)

I know how you would enjoy all our antique shops and secondhand stores here, too.

I have two extra guest rooms if you and yours would ever want to come to Ohio - you wouldn't be disappointed!

I cannot imagine last week your town was the hottest in the USA - last week I was using a space heater by my feet!!!!

Felicia

Yep, Florida is hot as heck. I can remember as a kid receiving a short set as a Christmas gift and wearing it that same day!

LOVE you dishes. Where are they from?

Sharon K

I am sure that November is warmer where you are then here in Ohio. Love all the pretty pictures of your lovely November.

Ulrike

It is hard to believe that November is here! I would send you some cool weather if I could, but we have had a ton of rain too. So I'm not sure if you would want that with it!! Our fall season has been crazy as well. I guess when the weather isn't going great we can always blog!!
Take Care! Ulrike

D. @ Outside Oslo

We should trade--I'll bottle up some cool Seattle weather, and you can bottle up some nice, warm weather and send it this way.

gabrielle

Oh, I'm so sorry it's been so hot in Florida. It's been a bit hot here too in Calif but we have had cool nights. I'll send some your way. Love the porch pictures..I esp. love the colorful plates.

The Pleasures of Homemaking

Well all I can send you is rain really! I've been waiting for some fall weather myself. Looks like this week we'll finally dry out.
Marley and Maggie are so cute!

Manuela

Kim
I love your blog! You are the calmness in my day. Your porch is November. Even though it is hot there it looks very cool and fall like. Fall is my very favorite time of year. Always keep sharing with us.

Kirsten

Kim, we had two feet of snow--and three snow days for the kids--in the Denver metro last week! You're welcome to at least half of it :-)

Kirsten

dale

I just so enjoy looking at your blog, the photos are so beautiful and colorful, very inspiring. :)

Eileen @ Star's Fault

Beautiful photos! I would love to be somewhere warn and sunny. Winter is arriving here, and the weather is in the high 20's, sun shining brightly and not yet a flake of snow... which is very unusual for Anchorage. I am glad that the roads aren't slipper yet, and that there is no ice to speak of. We're losing daylight quite fast now, and it gets light about 9am, dark again at 5pm. A good layer of snow really brightens everything up, and at night the moon just makes everything glow and sparkle. It's really beautiful!

Blessings ~ Eileen @ Star's Fault

Amy

oh my, that might just be the CUTEST little set of dishes ever...love them. Really enjoy visiting your blog, so bright and cheery-a great way to start my day! : )

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands.
