Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Hi Kim,
What beautiful photos you have! How do you get them so BIG???

Love your blog by the way,

Brought all that home on a broom did you?
Those mums suit Daisy Cottage perfectly.
Love the pic of the pumpkins on a hill, too.

It's fun to ready our homes for fall!

Very usefull broom too! haah!

kisses from rainy Brazil

We have some cool weather, and bright fall leaves up here in Michigan. We had frost several mornings this week. Can I send you some?:>)

Jen@Balancing Beauty and Bedlam

Oh, just looking at those pictures make me so happy...LOVE.THEM.

Morning Kim,

It's not very Fall like here in Southern CA either and my mums are drooping from the 100 degree heat we've had the last few days! I did buy some pumpkin ice-cream though and that helps a smidge :) Your pumpkins look so pretty, I need to go get some too!

It might not be cool there yet, but it is gorgeous around Daisy Cottage! It's just a tad bit cool this morning here. It probably won't last, but I'm gonna enjoy it today while it last.

BTW, Miss Daisy and I have a message about pets today. Miss Daisy sends hugs to Maggie.

Sending some of my North Carolina Mountain air your way sweet Kim! Love the rooster door mat :-)

We have beautiful fall weather in Missouri.I'm sending it your way. Hope it makes it. Now I'm off to do some pumpkin hunting of my own.

Kim, My oh my! I have never seen such a huge pumpkin pile! And your photos of Miss Swan are simply exquisite. Hugs and pumpkin cheer! xo rachel

What an absolutely delightful fall post! Thank you!

Of course your daisy cottage needed yellow mums! :)
We have plenty of autumn weather to share with you. It's in the 50's this morning.

We love your neighbors! They must not cause you too much trouble! The pumpkin picture is great! Your mums are lovely! What a delightful post! Thanks for sharing!

Kim - you have such a beautiful blog. Everything about it is just wonderful. Your pictures are of such a great quality, your home is gorgeous - I love the vibrant colors throughout, your pooch is precious and very photogenic and it is just such a pleasure to read. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and the beauty of your life with us.

Kim, you take such great, clear photographs.
Fall is in the air here in Virginia, with leaves already falling and calling to me "Rake me, Rake me, Rake me". I can't say that raking is my favorite thing to do, but its the price you pay for all these wonderful trees. I'm making a special delivery of cooler weather for you in the meantime. Have a great weekend.

Hi Kim, oh you did it again ;) I came on your page and the music started and I was brought into such a lovely state! Your talents are amazing! the photography is so personal and perfect that it makes one feel as if they are there! and so welcomed too! I have to say, that pumpkin on the chair made me giggle ;) with the mood you created and the way you photograph things, I really thought he ( pumpky ) was going to turn around and say: "Want to sit a spell?", LOL ;) but you do beautiful work and its so appreciated ! Hope you have a wonderful autumnal week! ~ Hugs

Ohhh I can't wait to get pumpkins! I want to find a pumpkin patch and take my kids.

Your broom comment made me laugh. ;-)

We are having glorious fall weather in Missouri. Lovely golden cool crisp days. J and I had dental check ups this morning. The folks in the office took one look at us and laughed. He is dressed in shorts and short sleeve shirt and wearing sandals. I however, have on long pants, long sleeve shirt, and a fleece vest. I to have on flip flops though. We are a study in contrasts!

I have the front porch ready for fall. We picked up gorgous mums, at the lake last week and added pumpkins to the mix, earlier this week. I do believe I could use just one more mum, though.

Those swan photos are so lovely!

Hahaha, Kim I literally thought you had bought all those pictures...that first picture I did a double take...hahaha and I thought oh my gosh!!!! Then I read everything! Don't you love mums? Mine come back every year even better, I have to trim them back...they do well in the garden and I don't think the gophers like them!
Yipee for that,

Love the pumpkins en-masse. Gorgeous pictures and a very lovely blog, reading it is so relaxing. And I love your music selection, I spend the day humming 'Stranger on the Shore' each time I've read your blog, drives my customers mad!!
Sue xx

Dear Kim, Nice selection of pumpkins there!!! Your home looks all beautiful and fallish even though you don't have cool weather. You probably will soon.

Hi Kim :)

I can't believe I missed a posting of yours again! Darn flu-bug!! You certainly cheered me up though, just like a big bowl of chicken soup ;)

Your "neighbors" are beautiful and so is that picture of all the pumpkins by the lake! I need to get some myself.

I wish I could send you some Fall weather, but last time I did that you had a hurricane. I'm afraid this time, you might get snow LOL

((love to you))

I enjoyed your beautiful pictures, Kim. Thanks for sharing them.

I think we might have to stop by there again this year to get our pumpkins. I heard Aldi has mums for $2.99, but I havent been in there yet, have you?

Awesome photos as always!

You can certainly have some of our fall weather . Here in Portland, Oregon the fall is lovely but the cold and rain came too fast for me! Love your blog...Chris

Thanks for the beautiful photos and ideas...I only brought home one pumpkin from the patch and he is lonely! Your blog is a beautiful treat!

Toni from NC

Love the punkins! I wasn't planning to buy one this year, but now I just might. Thanks for the visual inspiration!

Debbie in Florida

Look at all those pumpkins! Holy cow! And the cute ducks. We have ducks at work that are always laying eggs and then showing off their babies when they hatch, looking for handouts. The way they waddle reminds me of cartoon ducks.

I am a long time lurker but had to come out of the shadows to say the photos are just wonderful. I should also say how much I do enjoy visiting too.
Have a lovely weekend.

Your photography is an inspiration to behold. I love, love, love your pumpkins and mums. I haven't been traveling blogland these days ...your other few posts are fantastic as usual! Happy Fall!

Julia @ Hooked on Houses

What pretty pumpkins! I need to get out there and pick some up myself this weekend. -Julia

Sending along some crisp cool Minnesota Fall weather!!

Your pumpkins are delightful. I just have some Cinderella Pumpkins and mums. We'll maybe hit the pumpkin patch this weekend.

Lovely photos, as usual!

This most brights a HUGE smile to my face!

Beautiful photos, Kim! What would fall be without pumpkins and mums! Hope you get some cool weather soon.

Your friends look so happy to see you, Kim! Each picture is "Wonder-Fall!" The angles you use and the way you frame each photo make them animated and fun. When I visit, I'm often thankful that you don't have to work outside the home for a living, cuz if you did, we wouldn't get to enjoy visiting Daisy Cottage like we do! You are a constant delight and joy in this world!

Southern Heart

Very pretty fall photos,'s looking very autumnal at Daisy Cottage! I particularly love those thick-stemmed pumpkins, don't you? It hasn't (consistently) gotten very cool here in the MidSouth yet, either...fingers crossed for next week. If we get some cool air, I'll send some your way. xoxo

Absolutely beautiful photos. I especially love the first one of all of the pumpkins. That gorgeous orange against all that green & blue. Thank you.~~Dee

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
