Mantel Fun

Img_9459_medium

Just for fun, I propped this old fireplace mantel surround that I got from Vintage, against our dining room wall....

And speaking of fun, I am painting an old buffet that was sitting where the mantel is now, RED - but I'm leaving the drawers the way they are. This is going to be our wine bar.......

If you want to have a little decorating fun, grab a paint brush and paint something in one of your favorite colors - don't worry about achieving "perfect" results ... you'll love it anyway!  ;-)

I think one of the things that is so appealing about your home is the "Fun" that shows in every corner. The colors, the whimsical touches, they all make for a cozy home like no other! I think the buffet looks great with its red paint!

Wow, that looks phenomenal. The mantle and the cabinet, that is.

Love that mantel! What a pretty color. The home we just purchased has a fireplace, but no mantel. I'm looking forward to hunting for an old one that will just be perfect.

Oh what luscious colors!!! Daisy Cottage never fails to make me smile, Kim. :)

Oh my! How beautiful are your pictures??? Do you LIVE in a magazine or what? :o)

I know I can always find inspiration every time I look here. It can be so easy to only think of using items in the way they were originally made, but you always remind me that they are whatever I think they are. Thank you for being so creative!! :) The world needs more people like you! :)

Hey they both look fantastic. I agree about just getting the brush out and going for it, I really enjoyed painting a chair bright pink recently.

As always you brighten my day up!!

xoxo

Oh my goodness, I am loving that mantel. And the display is perfect. Oh, your style is right up my ally:)

I love it! So happy and cheerful...

Wish that I were as brave as you...I've got a number of painting projects!

I enjoyed catching up on your blog. Daisy Cottage pics always bring a smile to my face. I love seeing what you're up to. I'd love to visit Savannah again. I enjoyed seeing it through your visit. Give Miss Maggie a hug and one for yourself.

Love it Kim !

Oh Kim, What can I say? You are adorable and so it that new fun project. xoRachel

I LOVE the fireplace surround. I have a fairly wide entry with huge blank walls--I have been on the hunt for a fireplace surround (must be the right price!) to put against one of the walls. I plan on painting it black. I love how they take up space, without protruding into the the walking area of the room--and you can decorate them in all sorts of ways! Your blog is so terrific--thanks for all of your ideas and photos.

Always new inspiration here at Daisy Cottage. Thanks Kim.

So long since I visited your lovely blog and as ever it is so inspiring and beautifully colourful. I love the mantle propped against the wall. Looks so great. And the new red wine bar is beautiful, especially as you're leaving the drawers as they were.

I just love the little touches of blue that you're adding to Daisy Cottage :)

The hutch painted red looks amazing. I'm such a chicken when it comes to painting furniture, so I live vicariously through you. It's a wonderful life too ;)

Hugs and love,
rue

Looking so pretty, always, here Kim!!

Happy day to you!

Love the mantel and the colors of the mantel and the drawers you painted too!
I love to pop in and see what you are working on.

Your home is so inspirational to me. Seriously, you are half the reason I started painting all my furniture!

Hi Kim
I just wanted to tell you how much I love the blue you are incorporating into your rooms. It looks great! Of course you know I happen to like blue so I may be a wee bit biased!
Hugs, Rhondi

love your sense of color this red makes me googlyeyed...it's all so darn fresh!!! keep it coming Kim..best, Jennifer

Hi Kim,
I love the touches of blue you are adding to your home. It looks so fresh!

I have been a furniture painting fool these last couple of months. You know how when you start something, it snowballs? :-)
Hugs,
Penny

Ah...you said the right thing! This is why I love you! (Okay, so I love you for lots of things but hey..) If we are not having FUN while decorating and in our own homes, why bother? That is what it is all about! And nothing should be so perfect or it loses it's sense of charm, whimsy and delight.
Your home is all about those things. Must be why I love it so.

Love,
Sue
