A Garden Tub

Happy Sunday! I hope yours has been a wonderful one!

My hubby and brother-in-law, Jim, were very good boys when they brought home two vintage bathtubs that they found for $25 each at a local horse farm. The tubs were being used as water troughs for the farm's horses.  My sister and I wanted them for our gardens and today we filled ours with dirt and flowers.....

Do you remember this? I couldn't decide what color to paint it and it eventually made its' way to our garden. When we entertain I'll put candles in it and light them for fun ambiance. I love cottage gardening because it is lighthearted, playful AND very forgiving for gardeners like me who do NOT have a green thumb! ;-)

Speaking of art - lucky, lucky me won this beautiful work of art from Donna, of The Decorated House. Donna is a special friend of mine so I am EXTRA lucky indeed...

Now, some of you will remember when I shared this special heart from Debbie. Well, unfortunately, one day Miss Maggie was a tiny bit naughty and decided to "play" with my special "Debbie heart" and it became - let's say - a bit chewed up. When I decided that I was going to collect fabric hearts, I told Debbie about Maggie's mischevious act. So sweet, sweet, Debbie sent a big box to Daisy Cottage and you will KNOW how wonderful it was to open it when you see what she sent!  Not only did she send another special heart, Debbie sent these hearts that she made too....

A Thrifted Chandy

Hi Sweetpeas!

I thought I'd share a chandelier and a few other thrifted goodies with you that have made their way to Daisy Cottage in the past few days.

I found this cute chandy at the local Habitat for Humanity thrift store....

Poor hubby doesn't know it yet, but it will be going in our kitchen to replace a yucky ceiling fan.

I bought a cozy throw from a thrift shop around the corner and it will join the others in our "granny room". I love the colors that were chosen by its' original creator....

And of course, this vintage suitcase had to come home with me too and it will be added to the growing collection in our "travel office"!  Isn't thrift shopping soooooo much fun?

 

Valance

I found this sweet window valance at the Good Shephard Hospice Thrift Shop for $1. I washed it on the gentle cycle and hung it in the fresh air to dry. I love how the morning light softly peeks through the fabric. And who says money can't buy happiness?    ;-)

Red Broom

I love this red broom that stays on Daisy Cottage's front porch....

And, yes, I enjoy sweeping our porch - it is a simple and calming task.

It's the little things - right?    ;-)

A Valentine From Maggie

Sweet Heart

I'm a girl on a mission. I want to collect lots of little fabric hearts made by YOU!

I bought this heart from Jill at Bailiwick Designs and it arrived in the MOST adorable way! She wrapped her beautifully handmade heart in black & white polka dotted tissue and yellow curly-cute paper just for Daisy Cottage! AND she generously included some of her fabulous tags! Thank you very much Jill! I just LOVE it and it is the perfect heart for my new collection!

Cookbooks and Recipes

I stumbled upon a stack of cookbooks for sale at a yard sale and I quickly scooped them all up! I also printed your wonderful recipes that you generously shared and they are now kept in my recipe box...

I think I'm going to tie an apron on and start cooking! Yummy potato soup is calling my name!  :-)
