Peek-A-Boo!

I miss you! :-)

Img_6814_small

It is still 2007, but I thought I'd pop in here to say hi and share a few things with you...

He is definitely NOT a "thing", but this is my hubby and no, he wasn't Santa - although he certainly WAS Santa to me this Christmas! He definitely spoiled me! His favorite thing to do when he isn't spending time with his family or caring for Daisy Cottage is to go fishing...

On Thursday, my friend Gina whisked me away to beautiful Anna Maria Island for some ocean eye candy -

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch of fish and chips -

Do you see our Florida "snow"?    ;-)

Img_6780_small

It was so nice to chat and linger over our lunch while breathing in the ocean air BUT we had some shopping to do, so off we went to this wonderful shop!

'Twas The Night Before Christmas..

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Sweet Santa pulled Karen's name from his pack! Congratulations Karen!!!!!!!!!!!

***************************************************************************************************

Thank you EVERYONE for playing along - I KNOW that you are ALL NICE !!!  ;-)

My wish is for each of you to have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

I'll see you in 2008!  Thank you SOOOO much for everything! You are THE BEST!

I love you ALL.

***************************************************************************************************

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night"

Granny Chair

Img_6643_medium

My daughter and her friends like to refer to our family room as the "granny room" seeing as how it is filled with older furniture and lots of knitty things - like sweet doilies and colorful comfy throws. And even though I have been busy with Christmas shopping, I am NEVER too busy to check in with my beloved Goodwill store. So I was THRILLED when I found this old granny chair there the other day. And YES, I'm probably the ONLY one in town who would think that it is cute... but I can't help it - I really do! I mean for $25, how could I NOT bring it home????   ;-)

Img_6640_medium

Now I don't know if SHE thinks it is cute or not, but obviously she thinks it is comfy..

Img_6667_medium

Sigh. Maggie, Maggie, Maggie. What AM I going to do with you?????

I've also wrapped a few presents and set my old doll out under the tree....

Miscellaneous Things

Here are a few miscellaneous things that I thought I'd share with you today..

Img_6465_medium

This candelabra was looking so forlorn when I found it in the back of a local shop. Its' price was greatly reduced because it was thought to be damaged - in a very crooked kind of way. I went ahead and bought it and brought it home. Happily, I discovered that its' crookedness was only a temporary state - the poor thing just needed a proper adjustment and it was as good as new! Do you think that I should paint it white or red? Or maybe even black?

************************************************************************************************

My Santa boot collection is growing - thank you Goodwill!

Img_6266_small

Img_6371_small

**********************************************************************************************

There are no Christmas decorations in the brown office, but I captured a little bit of the afternoon light - I think that sunlight is the best "decoration" anyway! ;-)

Img_5808_small

And I love it when the light sprinkles on our red quilt too!

Img_5806_small

***********************************************************************************************

One of my FAVORITE things to do during this cozy time of year is to snuggle up in a comfy chair with my stash of magazines. I save the holiday issues each year and they are always a treat to reread!

Img_6250_small

I hope you have a wonderful day filled with lots of sweet, miscellaneous things!

My Christmas Baby And The Tree

Img_6476_small_2

Twenty-four years ago, on December 9th, 1983, I became a Mommy..

And that was THE best Christmas gift that I have EVER received.

                    Happy Birthday Shawn!  I love you!

***********************************************************************************************

Last year I experimented with having two Christmas trees. I learned about myself that I am a "one tree kind of girl", so this year it is back to having just one at Daisy Cottage.

Img_6448_small

Our tree stands in the living room, proudly displaying old and new ornaments, our children's handmade ones (my favorites), little teacups, and even a sunflower or two just for fun! I'm sure that it could use a few more bows and some tweaking here and there, BUT....

Img_6457_medium_small

Img_6453_medium

It smells heavenly and the tree is bright and cheery so that makes me happy!

Img_6444_medium

I hope you have a beautiful Sunday and I wish for YOU, a happy tree trimming too!

A Birdhouse For Daisy Cottage

Img_6403_medium

We received a special "thank you" fee from Harris Publications after Daisy Cottage was photographed for Cottage Style magazine last year. I knew that I wanted to get something really special for our home with the money and I was willing to wait until I found the perfect thing.

And I knew that I finally found IT when I found her. Penny is an AMAZING artist and happens to be a sweetheart of a blogger too! I became enchanted with her mosaics and all of her artistic creations. I asked her if she would like to create a "Daisy Cottage Birdhouse" for me. Thankfully, she said yes, and Penny started working her magic right away....

Kims_birdhose_2

Our VERY special and absolutely BEAUTIFUL birdhouse arrived on our porch yesterday and I immediately fell in love..

Img_6413_small

Img_6396_small

Look at the daisies! Isn't this just SOOOOO cute??!!

Img_6409_medium

I am truly thrilled! Thank you, dear Penny, for capturing Daisy Cottage so perfectly!

Img_6408_medium

Our special birdhouse will be cherished FOREVER!

Img_6397_medium

If any of you are searching for that "special something", you might want to have Penny create a little magic for you too! I promise that you will LOVE IT!  :-)

Cocooning

Img_6358_medium

See that funky zebra blanket?

A little doxie was just cocooning in it...

Img_6292_medium

Maggie is a Florida dachshund and Florida dachshunds get cold whenever the temperature dips the teeniest, tiniest bit! She was very happy the other day when I brought home this fuzzy blanket for the big bed and she wasted no time in claiming it as HERS. After all, she's a hip-and-happenin', cool doxie chic.

Copy_of_copy_of_img_6305_medium

Unfortunately for Miss Maggie, I had lists to make and things that needed to be done..

Img_6343_medium

And one of them was to make the big bed! Sorry Maggie! Go find your brother - he's pretty furry too!  ;-)
