Reflections of a Stairway

Daisy Cottage has a little stairway in the center of the house. I just found this old, shabby light fixture at a neighbor's estate sale and sweet hubby installed it right away. He's VERY good about doing that - you know, not making me wait too long for things to get done on the "honey-do" list...

I've filled the stairway walls with mirrors strictly found at Goodwill.....

I moved the little white table that I got at the garage sale to the stairway landing..

And placed Fifi's dried flowers here....

Thrifting and Baking

Today's thrifted treasures -  a green vintage ladies' hat, another floral print to add to the collection in our bathroom, and two old  suitcases.....

I also just finished baking Grandma's banana bread....

Peep, Peep! Come see!

I've wanted one of these for a looooooong time.....

I'm so happy that this one is now mine! Don't you think it will be way more fun carrying cakes and pies to gatherings in this vintage cutie instead of using my old, dingy Tupperware? I can't wait to use it...  hmm, anyone want to invite me over? I'll bring the cake!  ;-)

Our Thoughts Are With You

I've been so worried about my friend, Kathryn, who lives in San Diego, California. Thankfully, I heard from her a little while ago. She said that the devastation from the wildfires has just been horrible. For now, she and her hubby, along with their precious kitties are safe and sound. I know that you all join me in wishing all of our brothers and sisters in California, safe returns to their beloved families and homes. Our thoughts are with you ........

Our hearts go out to you....please be safe and comforted soon.

Whimsy In The Living Room

The poor white slipcovers on our living room chairs were VERY worn and had seen their better days so it was time for some new ones. They had served their purpose well, lasting through several families and numerous doggies. While shopping for more off-white creamy fabric, I found this fabric on sale at Hancock's. I thought it would be a fun change for the living room, especially for the fall and winter... a little whimsical addition to the space. As you know, I am VERY lucky to have a sweet sis who makes my slipcovers (and everything else that needs to be sewn) and she kindly squeezed in some sewing time for me into her really busy schedule. Thank you Jill! ((hugs))  I love them and you!

When Angie, of Vintage, Inc., told me that a perfect red table for Daisy Cottage was arriving in her shop, she was RIGHT! I treated our home to this red cutie, and I couldn't love it any more if I tried!

 

Just wanted to share these new things that are happening in the living room with you. I want to find some white pillows for the chairs, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying the fresh changes! I hope you all have a wonderful Monday! xo, Kim

Pumpkin Fun!

Target has definitely been a great resource this year for fun pumpkin decor! I picked up this witchy one last week. Isn't the polka-dotted stem cute? (edited to add that I can't take credit for the design - this came this way!) I also added the sunflower from Fifi to my sunflower basket... the more the merrier, I always say! I hope you all are having fun with your fall decorating too!

"Fabulous" Box from Fifi!

This box was waiting for me on my porch yesterday afternoon. Fifi is redoing her guest room in her dreamy pink cottage. She shares pictures about it here. She generously and VERY SWEETLY passed along these wonderful "things" to me for Daisy Cottage! It was like Christmas morning as I lifted one Fifi-treasure after another out of the brown box...

Fifi sent silk flowers that are PERFECT for Daisy Cottage, AND she gave me sweet-smelling dried flowers, adorable dust ruffles, THE softest blanket, a french rooster plaque, fun wall hangings, lovely pillow shams, a toile lamp shade, delightful tassels, and FABULOUS french window panels that I think Maggie thought were going to be hers...

So many colorful and wonderful things! I love them all - and to know that they came from such a sweet friend and HER delightful cottage... well, I'm just so thrilled! Thank you, thank you, Fifi - sending you BIG hugs and lots of love...  xoxoxo

P.S. If any of you haven't visited Fifi yet, try to stop by and say hi - she, and everything she does is truly fabulous! It will be so fun to see how she redecorates her guest room!

She's Okay

Maggie isn't hurt - she's okay. This is Maggie doing HER version of the "dachshund beg". She longs to beg properly like cutie-patootie Jazzy does, but alas, she is VERY bow-legged and has never been able to. So whenever she wants to be picked up or held, which happens quite often during the day, this is what she does... over and over again. She'll "faint" right in front of your feet and she will wait until someone "rescues" her.

And believe me, someone does - usually within seconds. Spoiled, spoiled Maggie.

The Glad Game

Look what arrived in my mail box last week! A PERFECTLY vintage "Pollyanna" game board! And who was the sweetheart who found this and wrapped it up in her usual adorable way to send to oh-so-lucky me?  Why it was Miss C, one of my FAVORITE buds here in Blogland. This board could not be any cuter - I love it and I think it is going to stay right here on my new little red coffee table in the living room... yep - it is just too special for the real game table, it deserves front and center attention! The Barn and Stable

One of my FAVORITE places to visit over the past 20 years or so for an "escape" and true shopping bliss is here. Right here - in what seems to be the middle of nowhere. But this place is INDEED somewhere, and is affectionately known as "The Barn and Stable".  Located in quaint Lake Alfred, Florida, off of I-4, this must-visit destination is waiting for you if you happen to be passing by. You will LOVE it, especially if you enjoy antiques, pretty things, and holiday treasures.

This wonderful place is open the first weekend in October through the last weekend in May. My friend and I, along with her sweet baby boy, celebrated the beginning of the fall season by visiting The Barn and Stable and having a "Backporch" lunch. I hope that it is okay that I brought YOU along too... if so, come shopping with us through the barn doors -

 

Would you ever think that all of these fun things could be found out here in the country? After all of this eye candy and shopping, we were hungry, so as tradition dictates, we had our "Backporch"  picnic lunch -

You take a menu, pencil in your selections, and a cute picnic basket arrives at your table filled with goodies.

 

Before we returned to our shopping, we wanted to show baby Andrew the water and lily pads nearby -

and since we ARE in the middle of Florida, this little baby wanted to say hi -

Andrew wasn't bothered - he's a laid back kind of guy...
