Mantel Fun

Img_9459_medium

Just for fun, I propped this old fireplace mantel surround that I got from Vintage, against our dining room wall....

Img_9460_medium

And speaking of fun, I am painting an old buffet that was sitting where the mantel is now, RED - but I'm leaving the drawers the way they are. This is going to be our wine bar.......

If you want to have a little decorating fun, grab a paint brush and paint something in one of your favorite colors - don't worry about achieving "perfect" results ... you'll love it anyway!  ;-)

Mayfaire

Img_9426_medium

I had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day and I hope that you did too!

I was spoiled with cards, flowers, presents, lunch AND dinner and of course sweet Maggie kisses!  ;-)

As we traditionally do, we strolled down our sidewalk to Mayfaire, which is held every Mother's Day weekend....

Img_9417_medium

There were many displays of colorful art.....

Img_9422_medium

Img_9408_medium

Img_9419_medium

And colorful birds also joined in the fun.....

Img_9431_medium

Lots of hot babies were pushed in style......

Img_9421_medium

And very hot doggies were VERY good sports .....

pssst.... this is Maggie's cute cousin - Bo!

Img_9433_medium

There were plenty of pretty places to cool down....

Img_9429_medium_2

And ladies wore their pretty hats......

Img_9424_medium

Lemonade was available to quench the thirst....

Img_9425_medium

And plenty of fair food was on hand to satisfy appetites....

Img_9413_medium

It was a lovely time - I SO love living downtown. :-)

At the end of the day,

As the sun dipped from the sky

My heart knew ONCE AGAIN,

How very blessed am I.

In Living Color

Img_9364_medium

Life may be like "a box of chocolates" but I also think it can be like a box of crayons - filled with color!  I know that I, personally, need to be surrounded with it.  :-)

While I didn't get to play in the rain yesterday, as, alas, there were NO raindrops, I DID get to play in the living room ......

Img_9368_medium

I think the chairs have landed!

Well, at least for now!!!!!

**************************************************************

I hope you have a wonderful weekend AND a beautiful Mother's Day!

Love you bunches!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Img_9334_medium

What is more wonderful than having your daughter home from college?

Having a daughter who found TWO vintage chairs in PERFECT condition for Daisy Cottage - and only $25 each at Goodwill!

Now, they are NOT red and yellow, but they DO pick up the blue in the table from the consignment shop and you know that I LOVE mixing things up - the more pattern and color, the better! ;-) Sooooooooo I'm determined to find the perfect spot for these sweet chairs! Maybe in the living room for a fun change????

Img_9340_medium

Or maybe in the "granny room", or the bedroom, or the dining room, or the.........

Have I said lately how much I LOVE THRIFTING? Have I said lately how much I LOVE my daughter?

Isn't it wonderful when we can see the beauty in the less than perfect things that surround us and even in the shabby, old, and discarded? We ARE lucky, aren't we?

I think so.

Lavender and Lace

Happy May!

You know, I have determined that IF I didn't live in a yellow house, I would have to live in a PINK house! And it would have flowers blooming in the gardens like these....

Yesterday, lucky lucky me, got to spend the day with Rhoda! She is just adorable AND loves to do the same things that I do... and yesterday we did several of those things - shopping, talking AND eating! We visited several shops that Rhoda will share on her blog, Southern Hospitality, AND we stopped and smelled the roses at this delightful tea room -

Sigh. What a WONDERFUL day ... thank you Rhoda for the extra sweet memories! Friends Forever!

Paula Deen Tour

Img_8840_medium

Of course we can't visit Savannah without visiting Miss Paula. Today, we are going on the official Paula Deen Tour! We will see the home where she raised her boys and began making her sandwiches and we will visit the little church where she and Michael recently married. We will also stop and have lunch at Uncle Bubba's Oyster House, which is her brother's restaurant. But the BEST part about being on the tour is that we will have the opportunity to secure a reservation at The Lady and Sons, Paula's restaurant, without having to wait in line with the all of the others!

Are we ready? Let's go!

This is the market that Paula would always get the produce for her business, The Bag Lady, that started it all.....(I took alot of pictures here because I LOVE the colors in fruits and vegetables!)

The church that Paula and Michael were married in... this is located on a beautiful boys' ranch that Paula generously supports. A morning service is being held right now for the boys, so we can't go in this time.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumy!  The girl can cook, that's for sure!

Well, I hope you enjoyed our stay in Savannah - I know that I can't wait to go back! If you have never been to this romantic, southern city, I hope you have the chance to one day... you will fall in love with Savannah's charm and beauty. I promise.
